This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Being in an older small town I didn’t expect high end food. Well I was wrong. It was great. The ny strip steak was better then one I had at a fancy NYC restaurant. Juicy dill of flavor and very tender.
The baked haddock was very good as well. They were serving butternut squash this week which could replace a candied sweet potato it was that good.
Service was great (extremely fast) and everyone couldn’t be any nicer.
Ps Cheesecake was amazing. Good thing we hiked to walk off the calories
We’ll be back

We were driving through the area and stopped by for a late lunch. We were seated and had to wait a little bit for the waitress, which was not a big deal. She came and took our drink orders. I just went for a pint of the Pigs Ear, while my husband went for a flight of five of the beers. We looked at the menus while we waited for the beer to come back. Here's where they lose a star, the waitress brought the flight board back and all five of the beers were spilled, 3 out of 5 were only about half full, as they were tilted and had spilled everywhere. We looked at when she put it down in a bit of disbelief and her only response was, yeah, the glasses don't really fit in the slots. No apology, no concern that she just wasted half the beer. First off, they should either find glasses to fit in the slots or get new boards to fit the glasses, that's really unacceptable to have half the beer you just paid for spilled all over and now all over the table. Second, we could tell it was also partially to blame on our waitress, where they lose another star. She obviously knew that was a problem, but didn't even try, nor offer an apology. We saw a nearby table have their waitress bring two flights boards out and she walked very carefully and made sure none of them spilled. So clearly it can be done with effort, although it seems as if investing in new boards would help the situation. Anyway, moving on, the beer is all very good, a great selection of all types, so something for everyone. The food was very good as well. I ordered the Sir P. Pork Wellington which is pulled pork with provolone and onions baked in a puff pastry. I thought perhaps the side dipping sauce would BBQ, but it was a brown gravy, which seemed a bit odd (maybe the wrong one?) but it went okay with it. The taste was very good and definitely very filling. I just went with french fries which were average, but nothing to complain about. My husband ordered the Croute Route Wellington, which has Swiss, ham, and turkey in a puff pastry with a dipping cheese sauce with fries. His was very good as well. We took a stout chocolate cake home for dessert, which also was quite tasty. So overall, the food and beer were worth the stop. The service, definitely lacking. From the spilled beer, which let's face it is the biggest strike against them, that's just not right!, to the waitress never checking on our food and leaving us with empty glasses for quite awhile while still eating, and just overall being very unfriendly, I can't give a better a rating at this point.

There's a point in the evolution of a restaurant where it's become very successful, always-a-line successful, when the owners seem to think "We got this," and things start to slip. That's what has happened here.

You sit down in the corner booth and it's so worn out, it's like sitting on a pile of books. The tables and carpets are worn. The filthy bathroom looks like it belongs in a frat house. The hostess and servers are red in the face from running, quite literally.

The food is OK but rushed; the French onion soup was watery, too salty. The service is friendly but rushed. Everything is a little more pricey than all this would dictate.

The ingredients are all here, still,, but success has bred complacency, mediocrity.

The oatmeal stout is very good, and the salmon, too.

We stayed for one night in the Bridal Vail Suite after visiting the Lincoln Ice Castle as well as enjoying dinner at the Woodstock Station. What a great room, very clean and extremely comfortable.

Stopped here for lunch recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our visit was perfect. I was thinking that it would be very busy, but the place is spread out and my husband and I had a room almost to ourselves. The bar was busy, as was the room in the front, but we enjoyed a Lost River Light in the historic atmosphere in our own quiet corner.. Our server was lovely. She was friendly, attentive and informative.. I ordered the chicken salad melt with onion rings. My husband had the steak bomb with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was all delicious! Can’t wait to return.
