The room in Ipanema tower is fine - large, quiet. I have three complaints about the Rio:
1. The pool is only open until 6pm. Seriously? And if it's breezy in the afternoon, the pool completely closes for the day.
2. The fitness center requires navigating a long maze through the pay-to-play spa and is SUPER crowded. It closes at 8pm.
If you're accompanying someone who's playing in WSOP, you need something to do after 6pm. The Rio isn't close enough to the strip to be a comfortable walk by yourself after dark if you're female. Sooo... Not a fan of this place.
3. The internet is spotty to the point that when your boyfriend busts out of his tournament and wants to play online, he'll lose connection in the middle of a tournament. Not a fun way to lose at poker.
If the Rio's going to charge a hefty resort fee, it needs to step up its game and perform like a resort.More
