This hotel is not bad. It was cheerful and funky.

The rooms, well, not bad for a night. It is pet friendly and that was a plus. The restaurant had decent Mexican food. I'm not a gambler so can't comment on that.
The staff very nice.

The only true negative was the Karaoke Lounge which seemed to be located on the wall directly behind my bed. They were singing up a storm until 2 am, and I was awake singing right along with them (in my mind) Ha,

My tip to you is to locate yourself as far away as possible from the Lounge if you do want to get some sleep, or you could be down there having fun with the rest of the crooners :}

If you are driving across the Nevada on US-93 or US-50 the Prospector is a great place to stay. Friendly staff with updated and very clean rooms. There is very good restaurant on site and a casino that is busy, but not crowded. Close to the junction of US-93 and US-50.

Stayed two nights in Ely while my dad participated in the 'be the engineer' experience at Nevada Railway Museum. Rooms are nicely appointed and the lobby, restaurant, and gift store are also very nice. Check in was smooth and I had no issues with the rooms. Ice machine offered a full scoop which allowed you to fill up your cooler before hitting the road. PS….Mexican restaurant in the hotel is better for bfast than dinner.

Room Tip: there is no elevator in the hotel so if you have problem with stairs stay on the ground floor

First we arrive and both people at the front desk are on the phone. After waiting about 12-14 minutes, one finally hangs up and helps us. She can't check us in (we had asked to change the credit card from the one we reserved with...it was 4 pm, free cancellation until 6 pm, yet the card was already charged and they could not reverse). Ok. Then on to sign all their disclosures...$250 charge if we smoke in room. Cool, cuz we really want a non-smoking room since the entry area reeks of smoke. We arrive in the room....horrible. Was afraid of the lack of cleanliness. The carpet was gross. The room reeked of smoke (how would they know if someone smoked in there?). The bathroom was marginal...and, it appeared, has plumbing problems since the plunger was right there. The shower floor felt like it was going to cave in as did the floor in the hall and the floor by the window. All-in-all would NEVER return. And we had been traveling across the country and back, including staying at the Hyatt in Denver...this was the most expensive place we stayed.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

Qsmamo,

The hard working Prospector Team appreciates your candid review of our property. However, it is very obvious from our #1 Rating on TripAdvisor and all other Travel Sites, that your comments are misleading and untruthful. Since you do not enjoy staying and a # 1 RATED Hotel with a friendly and hard working staff, then it is best for you to stay at another property the next time you are in town.

Good Luck with your future travels and we wish you the best!

Sincerely,

The Staff of the #1 Rated Hotel on TripAdvisor!

The room was redone and very spacious. The mattress was just perfect. We ate in their restaurant for both breakfast and dinner and had delicious food with great service. This is a perfect place to stay if you want to visit Great Basin National Park.
