The tour of the dam was great. Katy was very personable and nice. The interpertive center was worth the stop and the hostess was very helpful and knowlegible and I was glad we made the trip. I wish we could have stayed longer in the area as it was pretty country.

My wife and our grandson worked on cleaning the bones of Peck's Rex before the Center opened. So much fun seeing how the center has grown. We have been to many such centers in the United States and I still feel there are species here that are not in any of the other museums.

Our primary reason for visiting was to take the dam powerhouse tour. Built during the FDR/WPA building boom and still fully operational today. Go inside the powerhouse and view the fantastically engineered turbines. Shout over the din to your guide who answers every question about everything from cubic feet of water used in the cooling towers to the 185 MW electricity generated by the powerhouses.

The interpretive center is a small but interesting museum consisting of a sample display of dinosaur fossils of the thousands discovered in Montana.

This "museum" provides an interesting combination of how Fort Peck earthen dam was built and a nature lesson on dinosaurs from the area. Interesting information and movie on the building of the dam. I glossed over the dinosaurs since they do not really interest me.

We visited here as part of a 'tour de Eastern Montana'. We've lived in Montana nearly 40 years but had never made it out to Fort Peck. This was the starting place for the Fort Peck Dam/Powerhouse Tours (which I recommend). One can see a model of "Peck's Rex", a t-rex discovered some 20 miles from Fort Peck, plus the skeleton of the t-rex, plus animals of the Northeast part of MT, including (real live) fish. History of the dam is well presented through displays, photos and archival information. A movie about the dam construction is offered and gives more background than available on the tour.
