I absolutely love this Mansion. Not only is the staff super friendly, but the ambiance and history of the place is not to be matched and perfect for your visit. I will definitely be back. I loved the O Day Room and would highly recommend!!!

Now that covid restrictions have eased in Missouri, we wanted a long weekend break. We stayed at this wonderful B & B the night we were in Springfield. The staff was friendly & helpful without being intrusive. The house is spacious and grand with an interesting history. When we booked the room online we had difficulty chosing which room, and decided on the John O'Day suite based on the large space, decor and antique 6 ft bathtub, If you are tall like us, you can appreciate the rare luxury of a tub long enough to submerge. Our suite had its own foyer and is decorated in a masculine style as it was the bedroom of the original owner. The bed was quite comfortable and breakfast was tasty. Our suite also had a mini fridge and a table if you wanted to bring a meal back to dine in the room. The mansion is in a church complex in town so it is like a historic oasis.

We were in town for a wedding that was taking place on the property. The staff was very welcoming. We enjoyed the grounds tremendously. They took care of all the details and we had a great time with our family. Our room was spacious. It is a mansion from the 1890s so the bathrooms were not huge but we expected that and it was so much nicer and warmer than staying in a hotel. We will not hesitate to stay here again. The weekend breakfast was hot and had the basics but real eggs no substitute. The home itself is lovely. The period furnishings and stained glass windows were great. We enjoyed exploring the

Being able to tour the mansion on our own was so fun. The Rooms were lovely. There was a slight mildew odor in the Tower suite. The building is in need of some repair and upkeep. It is completely understandable, given the cost of upkeep, that not everything can be fixed and restored to full glory. The Mansion is run by a non-denominational church, and it would be lovely if some wealthy benefactor would enable them to continue with paid maintenance and groundskeeping. I thought breakfast was so-so, but better than most continental services. The breakfast is only served on the weekend (Saturday/Sunday) but there are multiple near-by places to eat. I found the beds to be softer than I am used to, but slept quite well on the one in the tower rooms. I was not prepared for the early morning light, and was not able to sleep as late as I wished, so as beautiful as the rooms were, next time I will choose a room on the west or one that has darker window coverings. The bed in the Veranda room appears to have the firmest mattress. Even with the aforementioned details factored in, I give the place 5 stars and we definitely hope to be able to stay again in the future. The mansion has a fascinating history, and the peacefulness and pleasant surroundings far surpass a chain hotel, imo. The chapel can be rented for weddings and other occasions and the mansion makes a lovely romantic setting.

Room tip: There is only 1 accessible room. Be prepared and able to use the stairs.
