We heard so much about this wonderful little city so we decided to take a day trip up to Sayulita. We drove in and it was crowded and looked like a busy little city. We found a place to park and started walking around. It didn’t take long to smell the horror of the sewage. Several times I almost puked from the smell. People were in the water and swimming, digging in the sand all around the sewage river. It was horrible. We walked away from the sewer river and found loads of tourist traps. It’s was just nasty and gross. If you want a traditional, adorable place to go visit, go to the little village Punta de Mita..... not behind the gates but the true village. It’s wonderful! (They have the same sewage issue but on a much smaller scale and it’s isolated to the Marina area and its not sent into the water like Sayulita.

This is a busy tourist beach area. It is alive with bars, restaurants and trinket hawkers. Don’t come here if you’re looking for serenity. Come here if you want fun, action and food.

Loves Sayulita! Inexpensive cab ride from Vidanta and great little town - just like the reviews say. Our cab driver took us to San Pancho, Sayulita and Punta de Mita and back to Vidanta - spent 6 1/2 hours with us for 65 USD incl tip.

We hung out at Coco’s Beach Club. No charge if you by your drinks from them. Really enjoyed it. Boogie boards, surfboards, paddle boards, massages, hair-braiding, all available. Even oysters Rockefeller

We spent two days surfing and swimming here. There was a slight whiff of sewage, but it looked like since there had been no rain, the arroyo with the sewage wasn't reaching the ocean. We had our shoes (crocs) stolen when we left them on the beach during an early morning surf session. I recommend burying yours in the sand. It was a fun place with lots of life.
