While in Oxford for the day Ajax was recommended by a store employee. Nothing fancy on the inside by any means but the food did not disappoint. The meatloaf and hashbrown casserole were delicious. My husband said that it was the best he had ever eaten! I had the burger with was just ok. Def try one of the lunch specials if you go.

Don't order the BBQ. The restaurant was too dark to eat food in. They only had one toilet per gender. I had to wait long periods of time in a restroom line. The floor was sloping and too rustic. The piped in music got too sad and depressing. That was before the meal. Only thing I like was the service personnel. A greased covered bun and large chunks of meat does not make good BBQ. No Cole Slaw. The special sauce was too sweet for BBQ. The meat was dark and taste old. The fries were cold. This may be because I was in the 10 minute restroom line to wash my hands. Go 75 miles north and get good BBQ from Memphis. Try something else in the menu.

We took our granddaughter, her roommate and the girl across the hall to dinner. The girls enjoyed what they had. Neither I or my wife did...it could have be generational...

What's not to love about Ajax??? It's a family staple on day trips to Oxford. Delicious burgers, ice cold drinks from the bar, a fun and funky atmosphere - everyone always has a blast!

Prior to our visit to Oxford, we were given a list of “must dos” from an Ole Miss grad, and the Ajax Diner topped the list. We stopped for dinner after the football game, and were treated to quick service, a healthy pour from the bar, and great food. My husband tried the red bean rolls, followed by a slab of meatloaf, and I had a turkey club sandwich. Actually, 1/2 a sandwich, and it still covered my plate!
