Spectacular views, I have never prepared and cooked food with a view as here. All the rooms were well equipped and cosy. The showers and bathrooms superb, and we did not miss the lack of a television one little bit.
My one and only niggle was that the information pack did not did not tell us of the existence of hidden cutlery drawers in the work units or dishwasher. We had to contact the local handyman who proffered the information and thereafter enjoyed a short winter break.
A lovely property with lots of space, lots of light and great views all round. We have stayed here before but it is even better since the upgrade. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The house and the location are both amazing. Crackington Haven is a delightful, unspoilt Cornish seaside resort. The beach is great for surfing, body boarding, rock pooling and playing. There is a nice pub with good food (the Coombe Barton Inn), & 2 cute cafes (the Cabin Cafe does a great cream tea and has fire pits and blankets so you can sit outside in colder weather). Wonderful scenery and walks, great sunsets, with lots to do in the surrounding area. I have stayed here several times now and think it is a perfect place to get away from it all or for a family holiday. Lower Hillcott itself is stunning - 2 lovely ensuite master bedrooms, 3 more rooms (1 of which can be a twin or a double), and an amazing open plan living space with great views and a wood burning stove for cosy evenings. Everything has been done up to a high spec and there are nice little touches - e.g things like salt, cooking oil, loo roll, tea towels etc all there for you so you don't have to bring your own. Use of the games room, wet suits and body boards is also a bonus. The house is a few minutes walk from the beach, in a private road and set on the hillside, so has a lovely view of the beach and the surrounding hills. There is a massive window in the kitchen with a sofa, so you can sit and watch the sea with a cup of tea. There is parking for 3 cars. There is a lifeguard on the beach in the summer, but not in the winter, and dogs can go on the beach apart from high summer. Would thoroughly recommend this place.
