The hotel has a great location, right on the campus of the U of M and across from the light rail. Some restaurants around and a Walgreens if you're like me and like cheap snacks. The lobby is so interesting. I checked in late so I didn't hang out there but I looked around. It had a boutique feel. Cool fireplace. Fun chairs. Sort of a upscale rustic feel. Homey with style.
Check in was great. The young lady at the front desk was professional and she made me laugh a lot. Great personality. It was a little while ago so I don't remember her name. My room was very clean, which is always important. I must digress and say I really enjoyed watching the African Dance class happening at the U of M athletic center. One of the hallways of the hotel has windows that directly overlook the center and me and another hotel guest watched for a good 10 minutes.
Anyways, back to the room. It was very clean. I am a stickler and I only found the normal dust in the very corner of the window sills. It seems rude for me to check but that's how you get the excellent review from me. My very good really does mean Very good. I had a corner room, which looking at the layout of the hotel there was a really good chance for. I had a corner room, which looking at the layout of the hotel there was a really good chance for. The young lady at the front desk had told me there was some sort of tournament going on - I saw and heard a lot of loud, young athletes in the lobby and hall but my room was silent. I appreciated the fact that the front desk person placed me in a quieter part on a quieter floor of the hotel.
The decor of the room was nice. Same feel - quirky college guy turns into quirky well-to-do man with a sense of style. I liked it. The bathroom was nice. The shower had good water pressure. Rain shower head. The shower is lengthy so there is no shower curtain. There is a door but still leaves about a 1 foot space directly open. Two small problems with that. You get a tiny draft on the side not in the water. If you are a vigirous showerer (like me) you will splash. Only other small bathroom observation - the water of the sink faucet comes out fast and hard and splashes. I forgot in the morning and got my silk shirt wet. No big deal though. I know how to stop a water stain so no harm done. Nice products - Archive Green Tea & Willow. I liked it so much, I used the products. I travel with my own and rarely use the hotel's but these smelled really nice.
Other stuff - Keurig coffee maker (which I never use. Germs. yuck).
IHome radio/clock. Bed comfort - 7/10 (10 is the best). Sheets 8/10. Ability to control room temp (very important) 9/10. Wifi speed, which is free 9/10
I don't know about the price. My company booked it but they are pretty cheap so it probably was a good deal and well worth it.More
