“Hidden Gem in Harmony, MN”
Reviewed 10 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

The Asahi Loft is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. The Japanese decor makes you feel you truly are away from it all. The loft offers great space, yet privacy. They've even added an outside deck. There's only one unit so you don't have to worry about noise next door. If you're looking for a romantic get away, this is it. If you're looking for a place to get away and work on a project, they offer reasonably priced writers retreat rates in the off season. Comfortable bed, kimono robes, full kitchen, air bath, fireplace. The town of Harmony is in the heart of Minnesota's Amish country and has great local restaurants. If you're visiting the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, it's about an hour south and is a wonderful spot to hang out while waiting for a follow up visit at the clinic.

Liked best: This is a one of a kind place. Distinctive Japanese decor and open floor plan.
Liked least: I can't think of any negative about this place. I'm still wowed by it. Heads up for elderly travelers - it does require walking up a stairway of about 20 steps

Julie Kramer, award winning author, has written a book, Shunning Sarah, which takes place in Harmony MN. She has left a copy on the antique hibachi to whet your appetite for a murder mystery set in the midst of Amish country. Thanks Julie for such a wonderful review and wonderful book.

Wonderful home and wonderful hosts! It was a great place to relax. We especially loved the home made bread that was made by Cindy and she even made us more to take home. Cindy provided us with more than I needed. She offered her own cooking pans and food after I mentioned we might be cooking dinner one night. Very beautiful decor as well. The town was also fun to go out in, very friendly people at the stores and the local bars.

Thanks Trish for staying with us. The Loft has beautiful cookware in place, but Trish asked about a rice cooker and large wok, which I had waiting for them, as well as Cal Rose Sticky Japanese Rice. Alas we had no snow for cross country skiing for them but they found a good hiking alternative.
