Nishan collected us from Passara bus station and drove us up the winding road to his place, tea plantations cover the surrounding mountains to create an impressive scenery. Nishan was friendly from the offset, stopping to let us take photos and explaining the sights in the local area.
The guest house itself was built by the host and whilst it provides all of the necessary facilities although the room lacks natural ventilation and some of the doors don't lock. You'll be invited into the family home for tasty home cooked food and given access to everything you require.
It's clear that Nishan is very keen to interact with his guests and is enthusiastic about promoting tourism in the area...only 3* given as the style of hosting didn't really suit our preferences.
This is a very beautiful place. In a remote area away from commercialized tourism.
You get to stay in your own guest house, built by the host himself. The house is built with many thoughts like interior to take some of the outdoor feeling and implement inside like a waterfall shower and handbuilt wooden furniture. Very simple, but still got everything you need. The house got a covered roof terrace where you can sit and enjoy the warm evenings and sunset. In the morning you can take a small hike up the mountian to experience the beautiful sunrise.
The guest house is located near the host and his lovely family. You'll be invited into a Sri Lankan family and culture, taste the cousine or even participate and learn by doing the Sri Lankan cooking if you'd like. The host also offer tours with him as a guide around the local area where he lives, so he definitely knows what's happening.
In the area there is possibilites for trekking and hiking, local experiences with the tea growing and production other many other natural and cultural adventures.
I can highly recommend this place for it's remoteness and friendly family.
It's very rejuvenating to be there.

Nishan's place is set high in the mountains a few miles from the bus stop in Passara. The area is surounded by tea plantations and the road to get there is breathtaking. I spent 3 days with this family and I am glad I left the tourist path for a while and met them. I totally recommand Nishan.
