If you appreciate to have right to dispose of common areas like a patio and a tiny dip pool and be left to yourself then it's probably a fine choice.
There is not much help to get from the owners, when you ask for information or suggestions for activities in the area. What little we had was either flawed or outright wrong.
The rooms are very small. We also had to get rid of the cockroaches 3 times during our 6 days there.

In Brazil, it is not common with sewage. Hence, many private homes uses septic tanks, and you can not flush toilet paper with waste. Being met which such demands to a client who pays a 400 R$ a day is way above what I will again accept, anywhere for that matter!

How this pousada was chosen for Travellers choice baffles me. We stayed the week after in a hotel in Rio with direct views of the beach for the same price per. night as this Pousada.
We'll have little difficulties finding better value for money next time we visit Floripa

Pouso_Ff, Proprietário at Pouso Lang Guest House, responded to this reviewResponded 19 October 2017

Good day,
We are truly sorry that you are not 100% satisfied with your stay at Pouso Lang. We would first like to make it clear that we are a guest house as described in our name “Pouso Lang Guest House” and not a hotel nor a resort. Even though we are a guest house and not a tourist guide agency, we do love to give information and sharing the best tips to our guest (as many of our other reviews have detailed). We are natives of the island, born and raised here with much knowledge to share on knowing every area to be explored. There is much to see and always something fun to do here on the island that we are so passionate about.

I think the biggest issue (in regards to your review) is the fact you preferred to speak in Portuguese rather than English. This is probably the reason for your miscommunication when we tried to give you detailed information on what to do and where. We encourage our guest to learn Portuguese here in Brazil, but at times when important information is being conveyed, speak the language which you know best and we can certainly help communicate. For example, the day I told you in detail what to expect when taking the water taxi to go to eat at Costa De Lagoa, you got the water taxi thinking you were instead going to the beach (miscommunication). You went to a beautiful place on the lake by water with excellent local traditional food when in fact you had no interest to be there as you wanted to be at the beach instead. This could have been avoided if there was better communication with each other.

You also mentioned that you were "abandoned” but again this is a guest house; we are not promising to be a tourist guide service. Which surprises me because your family members every day had long and pleasant conversations with me and my wife during breakfast. For this reason we thought you evaluation was strange and unjustified which as you can tell we take pride in Pouso Lang and felt the need to explain our side of the story.

About the bathrooms; yes we don't use septic tanks. Waste is sent to a treatment plant much like any normal house. However, we advice everyone to please place toilet paper in the waste basket instead of in the toilet to prevent any clogging issues later on. This is very common in Brazil and we appreciate our guest respecting our policies.

About the size of the rooms; each and every room is detailed in pictures on our website. There is nothing to hide about the size or dimensions of our rooms and we always inform our guest of the size. We also have a common area which is quite standard of a house and nothing different from which is defined in our photos on our website. If you take the time to read the website, browse the pictures, and even call us at any time we will happily discuss what we have to offer.

Yes it is true there was a single roach in room and we apologize for the inconvenience. However, we do take precautionary measures to ensure that we try our best to prevent such pest. We have an exterminator come every 4 months to help control pest and we try our best to assure the rooms are clean and free from insects. Please realize that we are located and surrounded by nature and it is quite impossible for complete removal of these insects in our ecosystem. The other 2 insects you had mentioned were not roaches, but instead they were moths which are attracted to the lights near your room at night. This is why it is important to keep your door CLOSED to your room which would prevent any of these pest from ever entering your room from the beginning.

We wish you the best of luck,

Pouso Lang

Good breakfast, nice view, windsurfing and kiteboarding within a couple of steps from the guest house (a dive in the pool after surfing is really nice—first time I've experienced that) and the place is close to the restaurants in Lagao de Conceicao. The hosts are really nice and helpful, I will definitely visit again! Thank you very much.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay during our first time in Brazil. The family was welcoming, the house was clean, and there were plenty of great restaurants nearby to indulge in. It's like staying with family in Brazil!! Also, the house is located right next to a beautiful shallow lagoon, which is great for doing water sports with young kids. They had water equipment for us to borrow as well as life jackets. We will definitely be coming back to stay here again.

I stayed in this excellent guesthouse for 9 days, and all was perfect! The owners of the guesthouse are very friendly and help where they can. Thank you Konan and Maite for the nice Hoildays in Folripa. I'm looking forward to my next visit. I just can highly recommend to stay in this beautiful guesthouse.

Stayed here for 4 days with my wife and everything was really good!

The hosts are helpful and speak English, the area is gorgeous and very calm (you can get some good rest!). It is well located to get to several beaches by car, I suggest you rent one :-).

The sauna, swimming pool and ofuro were all very clean and relaxing and worked great.

The rooms at the front are private and calm and although they are on the small side, they are great for couples. The shower had amazing water pressure!

They also have the sweetest dog that loved our cuddles and was very well trained!

If there is one little thing we missed, it was a TV in the room, although they have a TV in the common room, it's not the same. Oh well, don't let this stop you from staying here! It's amazing.

One tip for visitors that like Pizza, go to the Artesano Pizza restaurant, you can walk there and it's reaaaally good!
