My husband and I just returned from our first week long houseboat adventure. We LOVED it. The staff at TBL were friendly, helpful, and full of information. The boat was well equipped and easy to use. We also rented a fishing boat rather than tow ours to the lake and it was perfect. Birch Lake if full of amazing views, a variety of places to tie up for the night or a couple days and the fishing was slow at this time of the year but we did get a walleye and bass and other pan fish. If you are planning a houseboat trip or even thinking of it for the future....I highly recommend TBL. And, they do a service call in the middle of your trip to see if you need anything!! And yes, I took the slide ride off the top of the boat deck!!!

Ron & Beth -- and the entire staff at Timber Bay Lodge & Houseboats - are excellent! My wife and I recently rented a Houseboat (July 2017) and it was another fabulous trip! (We have been returning as often as we have been able to since 1995. We've taken many trips - some with friends, most just my wife & myself. I highly recommend renting a Houseboat from Timber Bay to anyone looking to spend quality time on a gorgeous lake (Birch Lake). The majority of the lake is undeveloped (90%) and you are able to pick any number of spots to tie up for the evening. You are truly the captain of your own ship!. The lake is long and winding -- so you are able to easily find a spot no matter which way the wind may be coming from. Impossible to get lost. The wildlife & woods (Superior National Forest) are beautiful. Their boats are great -- all sizes. Bathroom, shower, fridge, water. I wish I had more space to write about House boating on Birch w/Timber Bay Lodge & Houseboats. Every trip is fantastic fun! Lots of time for naps, reading, eating, swimming, daydreaming, games, stargazing, fishing etc. You definitely won't be disappointed and cannot go wrong making this trip...you won't want to leave! You'll come home relaxed & recharged...wondering when you can come back.

We had a great family vacation at Timber Bay Lodge. We rented a cabin and houseboat for the week, spending time fishing, boating, swimming, camping, relaxing and enjoying all the activities Timber Bay has to offer. This is a wonderful family lodge with activities for adults and children of all ages. The owners Ron and Beth are super nice people. They show such care and concern for making sure all their guests are treated to a great experience. Their whole staff shows the same care and concerns. Everyone that works at the lodge are so friendly and make you feel as if you have been friends for years. Special thanks to Ron, Beth, Paul, Barb, Hag,& Ronnie as well as all other employees for making our vacation a experience we will never forget.
If you are looking for a vacation in Minnesota, Timber Bay Lodge is definitely the place to go. Out of 10,000 lakes in Minnesota, Birch Lake and Timber Bay Lodge is #1!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much,
Andy, Diane, Tyler, Ryan, Daisy, & Grandma Ida

Our family of four (and dog) recently spent 3 nights on a houseboat and 3 nights in a cabin. We all had a great time and recommend this resort to anyone that wants to get away and unplug. Our 6 and 8 year old said they would rather come back to Timber Bay than go to Disney! If you do this trip, we recommend first going on the houseboat and exploring the lake, then renting the cabin. Also, 3 days was enough time for us to see all of the lake and our kids started to get a little restless near the end (they wanted to get back to the bigger beach to swim, explore and bike around the cabins). Once back at the cabin, the owners had a few scheduled events (kids club, wine tasting, and s'mores on the beach) for everyone to participate in, if they choose, that helped make it feel like a little community. Our only wishes are for a fire pit near the cabins (fires only on the beach) and biodegradable soap for the houseboat-not sure if the sinks/showers empty into the lake.

Thank you! And happy that you enjoyed both your time on the houseboat followed by a few days in a cabin. It does give you two trips in one! Bring the kids back! We look forward to your next trip with us!

We spent a few days at this resort on a houseboat and it was perfect. The owners are experienced and kind. The staff was helpful and went over all details. The boat was a bit outdated but it can be exactly what you need if you tweak it. I'd bring a memory foam roll up mattress when we go back.

We camped at various spots on the lake. We grilled. I fished. We suntanned and swam. We took in the quiet and loved the loons when they were vocal. This experience was a chance to power off the devices and just be with the one I love and nature. I'd recommend this and will be back. I want to thank the owners. Super nice people.
