The road out to the old mission lighthouse is lined mostly with huge mansions and impeccable gardens. Highway M37 terminates at the lighthouse- the only dead-end Highway I’ve ever been on. The LH itself is a modest building sitting just above a lively sandy beach. It was calm and seventy degrees when I was there, lovely for walking the beach and wading out through the sand. There are miles of shady trails all through the Old Mission Park - great for light day hikes. Bring a picnic and enjoy.

Well worth the pleasant drive up to Mission Point Lighthouse. While the lighthouse itself is not an impressive architectural edifice the surroundings make the drive well worth it. Lots of history and simple surroundings. Beautiful tree lined road trip.

Great pleasure to learn history of the Area maritime knees the lighthouse. For the technology generation this could be a bit of an eye-opener to let them know that the responsible officers and people in charge of the LightHouse had a tremendous commitment to the safety and lives of those supplying the waters.

Great place to visit! Staff was very informative and incredibly interesting! We went on a day where there was extra staff, some of whom were dressed up. Very fun and will go again if we come back to this area!

A great stop if you are looking for an excuse to drive the Old Mission Peninsula. Our 4 year old son loved running on the beach in front of the light house. It's a beautiful area of Traverse City to explore.
