Taking a scenic drive out Old Mission peninsula, we hung out long enough at the lighthouse beach to get pretty hungry. A quick online search showed that the tavern was the only game out on the peninsula. I was wary of the only restaurant around, but decided to go anyway.
We pulled up at a very tidy yellow tavern, filled with local art pieces and a welcoming staff.
To cut to the chase: I had the whitefish sandwich; my companions had the Whitefish Platter and the Beyond Burger. All dishes were excellent! My wife noted that if the three burger choices, two were non- meat alternatives. The ‘Beyond Burger’ was a fantastic facsimile of a medium rare sirloin burger - hard to believe it wasn’t beef.
A large back room serves as a sort of community center for locals - a great resource.
All in all it was a great lunch stop, as nice and delicious as could be.
