I had an opportunity of a lifetime to visit the lovely SW corner of Michigan - very near to the Chicago area and found a hidden gem among towering pines, babbling brooks and a short leisurely stroll to Lake Michigan. Pinebrook Cottage! It is about as close to Heaven as one could possibly rent for a week in the summer. This adorable cottage welcomes you from the moment you drive into the circular driveway, walk on one of the several manicured paths, past mature trees, perennial gardens to encounter the cottage! What a delight! Nicely renovated and updated. Not large, but extremely spacious and well laid out rooms, room sizes and the amenities... Everything we could have possibly needed was already included except for our food - most of the cooking equipment and utensils are new and in pristine condition. Wonderful open floor plan, great eating spaces, a lovely sun room with views of the spacious rear deck, woods, fire pit and the amazing outdoor shower - complete with hot water and hooks for our robes! Everything one could possibly dream up, terrifically decorated, very comfortable, welcoming and very hard to leave. I will be booking this delight cottage for an even longer stay this season - I hope they still have space waiting.... I won't be a guest any more!
This house has everything you need for a comfy, cozy stay in MI. Our family went up this past fall for the weekend and there were 7 of us. There was plenty of room to sleep everyone and the house provided everything we needed. We cooked in the well equipped kitchen and enjoyed evenings around the fire pit every night. The house was immaculate, beds were very comfortable and the décor was delightful. We can't wait to go back again this year.
We'll definitely come back here.
I booked when there were no reviews so I was a little nervous but Patty was incredibly responsive to all of my questions. The pictures do not do this place justice. It's quaint and cozy and we felt perfectly at home. They've thought through a lot of the details in this renovation -- leaving an ipod and speaker for kitchen time and a binder with restaurant recommendations. Also a plus, they don't nickel and dime you on things like olive oil, etc., if you want to cook. It was really nice that the kitchen had at least some essentials.
The fire pit made for amazing nighttime fun and a beautiful (and nearly private!) beach was just an 8 minute walk down the street. Even though there are neighbors, the setting makes it feel super tucked away and private. Perfect for a weekend getaway from the city, which was our case.
Only caution-- be careful when pulling into the driveway. There's some sort of pipe buried right at the turn off from the street that is a bear to clear in a car.
