The museum itself isn't much, just a few rooms with photographs and murals. If you love history it is worth the visit. The tour guides really make the experience. They are all veterans of the revolution and share their amazing and personal stories. We even got to see a photo of our guide when he was 18 years old on one of the walls! They take you up to the roof top, which gives great view of Leon.

This really isn’t worth your time nor dollars. The entrance fee is NOT by donation unless donation means 100 cordobas per person. Was told there was no English speaking guide to find out there is but the guides go in rotation. If you don’t speak Spanish you are out of luck. Our guide hustled us through the newspaper and photo exhibits, no trip to the roof, and then wanted us to buy DVDs. When that failed he demanded a tip. Just skip it or go as part of. City tour with an English speaking guide.

I got a very animated Spanish only speaking guide who fought with the Sandinistas. Even though I speak very little Spanish, I was able to understand the history (lots of assassinations) and that he had been tortured.

Museum content not very interesting, mostly newspaper clips however the murals were good and the view of the cathedral and main square from the roof was excellent.

Walking on the rotten roof was an experience, I am less than 80kg but I could here cracking noises so you need to be careful where you put your feet.

Although our tour was in Spanish, we certainly picked up most of what our guide Marcello was conveying. This simple Museo, housed in a former inhumane prison, tells the story of the uprising against the brutal, USA backed dictatorship of Samosa followed by the 10 year struggle of the FSLA against US backed Contras. Guides are all revolutionary veterans. What the Nicaraguan people have endured is difficult to comprehend. We all found this Museo tour very moving and unforgettable.

We called by here for a quick visit of the Sandinista struggle. Our guide gave us a quick overview of their struggle to gain power. The went up on the roof to view the scenes over the roof. Interesting. good visit gave us a different perspective of the struggle for power.
Interesting and informative visit.
Watch your step on this roof though.
