The lodges were situated going away from the main buildings. We were in the lodge furthest from the main area. We had good views of the surrounding rocky outcrops. Here we saw lots of Rock Hyrax clambering around the rocks. We also saw Oryx eating the grass. The room were basic, but excellent. They were clean, tidy and comfortable. The food was very good with excellent choices. The pool was quite away from the main area over a nearby hill,

Any nature lover will agree that the setting of this lodge is absolutely stunning. Photo opportunities are excellent. Couple that with the chalets nestled between the boulders and excellent food this 'oasis' is a must to be visited!

We stayed in 2014 at this Lodge with pleasant memories of our stay. We choose to stay here again and apart from the accommodation it was an unpleasant memory. This was our last stop before we return to South Africa. Previously there was a buffet dinner, this time there was a set menu. The soup and garden salad was good, but we decided to have the fish as main dish. The ladies received a decent piece of Hake. They place a piece of fish, tail section that was half of theirs size and over baked, so hard that I could not cut it. I called the waitron and told her I am not satisfied with this dish. She went back with it to the kitchen and after 10 minutes return with a better portion. But oh, this time, it was still raw in the inside. She wants to return it again and I told to leave it, my appetite was gone. The manager came around and I told him the situation and he offered an alternative dish. I did not accept it and luckily, they don’t charge me for the dinner. This dinner in any case was very over priced in comparison with the other Gondwana Lodges we stayed at. Even the breakfast buffet was not good and sub standard. That morning that we left, we were about 510 steps from our car, we had to take our own luggage to the car, even when some of the staff passed us. Sorry Gondwana but I will never stay at this lodge again.

We stayed here for one night as part of our extended holiday. It is set out like a Wild West village with semi detached bungalows arranged in a Crescent opposite the main bar/restaurant/ reception area. Staff were very good and two donkeys with a cart came to collect our luggage the next day!!

in the middle of nowhere. from the outside it looked basic but upon entering the lodge it soon became apparent this was an incredible oasis surrounded by desert. the chalets were beautiful, the vistas from the rock hill were amazing. the pool and outdoor bar overlooking the barren landscape whilst watching a baboon in the distance, will stay with me forever. great food in the dining areas. outstanding.

Room Tip: peaceful single chalets
