Stop here every year that we come to Cape Cod. The canal walk is nice and it is always nice to stop in the Visitor Station to see the great movie about the canal and to see the displays. Staff always friendly and helpful. They even know where to send you for the best ice cream.
The walk is pretty and feels nice just to get the fresh air in your face and to watch the boats.
Enjoy it every time.

Great place to stop and check in. The center is very informative and the kids really enjoyed it. Seafood Sam’s restaurant right next door with good seafood. Also start of the Cape Cod Canal Bike Path. Plenty of parking as well. Beautiful place with excellent views of the canal.

There’s something here for young and old. The children’s exhibits were really a hit with our 4 and 6 yr old grandkids. Includes a boat they can climb up into and pretend to use the radio. There is a nice video history of the canal for the older crowd. Also good rest rooms!

Nice place to visit, beautiful, interesting, fun and informative. A must see while you are on the canal, either to walk, bike or fish. Discover with kids or just for adults as well, boats, sea life and history of the canal. Free.

Everyone who comes by car to the island of Cape Cod must drive over the Cape Cod Canal. Take a little while to learn the history of this engineering marvel. This visitors' center is free and well worth the trip. In addition, there are two wonderful restaurants within walking distance so it is very easy to incorporate a visit to the Visitors' Center with lunch one day.
There is a lot to see at the center:
Board a retired 40-foot US Army Corps of Engineers patrol boat;
Scan live radar and camera images to locate vessels in the waterway. Captain a virtual boat through the canal;
Investigate what’s inside many of the ships transiting the canal;
Discover wildlife that live in or around the canal;
View films about canal history, wildflowers, and wildlife;
Participate in various free interpretive programs;
Or just relax and soak in the waterfront views from the rocking chairs on the front deck There is something for everyone here and I encourage you to put this on your list of things to do this summer!
