Just a fabulous menu-from the appetizer to the dessert, all 5 courses plus the fresh from the oven bread with roasted garlic butter...nirvana. Great knowledgeable service, including the sommelier. this was a great experience from beginning to end.

The first course pear salad with blue cheese croquette was one of the best I have ever had anywhere. The roasted carrots have an earthy depth complimented by the harissa sauce, and the lobster risotto was perfectly cooked. The wagyu beef with potato puree was heaven, and the vanilla creme brulee with caramelized apples wa gorgeous and the perfect size. Really well done, and in a casual, low-key setting. Loved it!

I am so happy we made it to Down Island. It's their last week (so their last menu) of the summer and I already am looking forward to coming back at least a few times next summer! The $69 prix fix menu was absolutely amazing, and it's so nice to not have to even think about what to order. My husband did the $42 wine pairing, and the rest of us had individual glasses plus sips of his. (He's a good sport.)

Our server Eve is training to be a sommolier and it was a pleasure to hear her descriptions of the wines. We just loved her energy and attitude. It made a great experience even better!

The meal was fantastic. The wagyu beef melted in my mouth, and the au jus had incredible flavor. The carrots, as previously described, are apparently the house dish and even though the menu changes weekly the carrots are always on the menu. We spoke about how to recreate this amazing dish at home! Every dish was beautifully plated and composed.

The room is downstairs with no windows, but I felt the ambience was great. Not dungeon-like at all. More like a private club, with beautiful bright walls and large water themed prints.

What a lovely experience.

This restaurant serves a seasonal menu with a lot of locally sourced food. There is a set menu that changes weekly. If you let them know of any food allergies or restrictions in advance of your meal, they will adapt the dishes to suit your needs. Each dish is beautifully presented with a large variety of different ingredients that always blend well. All of the servers are excellent, and their descriptions of the dishes are half the fun.

This subterranean restaurant prides itself on a unique dining experience - and that it certainly was! In order to enter this establishment one must proceed down a maze of darkened ramps that are similar to falling down the rabbit hole. Upon officially entering the restaurant your eyes need to adjust to the basement like dimly lit interior that offers no sound baffling.......so it's dark and loud (and gets progressively louder as the evening wears on). Then you must accept that there are no choices, here is only a 4 dish set menu, and no regular bar, you can order off-site premixed cocktails (there is a decent selection of wine). While what we were presented in the hour and a half we were there was pretty to look at - it hardly answers the question "what takes so long!?" In the time that we were there we essentially had a starter and a salad, we never even got to the main dish (and there was no guarantee that it was arriving in the near future).
The reality is that there is a fine line between artistically presented food and ridiculous posturing and presentation! The chef might have been creating minor miracles in the kitchen, but if you can't have a full dinner within a reasonable (and I think an hour and a half is reasonable) amount of time no miracle can help the situation or is worth the wait.

Small, wonderfully appointed (modern and not stuffy) and one of the best menus on the island. The wait staff is professional and will answer any question. The chef came to our table to tell us how the meal was prepared. They feature carrots on all the menus. It is prix fix so call ahead for what the main dish is. They can do substitution. I do not eat red meat and the night we were there they featured brisket (my dining partners loved it) and I had fresh caught local stripped bass and it was some of the best ever. You will need to book in advance since it now has been "discovered". Parking can be a challenge in the busy months of July and August so leave time to find a spot.
