I have stayed at the Highlander several times in past years though not recently. The property and rooms are well maintained except for some paint needed outside which is no problem to me. Inside the room was spacious and could have used a little more furniture in the form of a desk for using a computer but I managed without it. There are no drapes on the front windows, only venetian blinds, which let in enough light even at night to see your way around but also unfortunately so could a nosy passerby. Bathroom could use another towel rack or two and at least one grab bar in the shower.
No working ice machine(s) which is annoying though the manager was kind enough to give us some from the office. In all fairness, there was one small ice tray in the refrig.
On the plus side, the manager was very pleasant and helpful with restaurant and other area suggestions and very accommodating with any questions or concerns we had. The room was perfectly clean and the beds were very comfortable with good mattresses. We were there in late season so it was far from fully occupied thus very quiet. Good location not far from downtown Chatham and many restaurants and related businesses. .More
