Thank you for posting a review. We were delighted we could upgrade you to our King Jacuzzi room - and check you in much earlier than our 2 - 7 PM check-in time. I hate it when I get to an inn or hotel, and the room is not ready - or we are placed in "a holding pattern" for an hour or more. Glad to see you had a great time!

We really enjoyed our stay. Will Workman is a great host. He is friendly, knowledgeable St. Michael's local, and he has done so much research into the house's incredible history. He makes you feel comfortable visiting the inn. Facility is well maintained. Rooms are quaint, well appointed and clean. TV has all the regular channels and Wifi is good. Our bathroom is modern and clean. It is located about half a mile from town and is very walkable. You won't be by the water, but the pool, tranquility, privacy and the great host more than makes up for that.
One of the things we accomplished when building this inn was to put in an advanced geothermal heating/cooling system (requires a switch over) to eliminate the noise around the pool area from traditional heat pumps or cooling towers. We also moved the pool pumps over to the garage. So sitting around our pool or in our gardens is a tranquil experience - we even put in berms over next to the highway 300 feet away to reduce the road noise (tires hitting the payment). We are so glad you noticed the "tranquility" - there is just so much noise in our urban lives, that I wanted to spend the extra money to make this place - the historic George Brooks House B&B - a very quiet and tranquil place to spend some time!

Beautiful historic home with interesting background story. Will is a good host and a great story teller. Breakfast was good and the muffins were wonderful. St Michaels is a small quaint town rich in history. The shop owners enjoy talking to the customers.
Recently stayed with my boyfriend in this B&B and we loved our experience. Home-cooked breakfast was delicious each morning, bikes were always available for an easy ride into town, and the pool was refreshing after long hot days exploring! Will, the innkeeper, also gave us great recommendations for restaurants/activities as well as history lessons about the area.
We were the only guests on a Thursday afternoon - Saturday morning visit and received excellent personal attention from the owner. Meticulously maintained property, spent a lot of time at the extremely nice quiet backyard pool and enjoyed delicious breakfasts.
A big caveat: I don't normally stay in B&Bs, and am not familiar with what's typical in this category. At the last minute, I decided to spend the night in St. Michaels, and was lucky to find a free room at the George Brooks House. Overall, I had a comfortable stay with no problems.
Location: The B&B is about a 15-20 minute walk from the center of St. Michaels, on a side street not far from the main road. Note that the B&B is not on or near the water, if that's of interest. I wasn't bothered by traffic or other noise. You can walk into town on the highway shoulder - not a problem during the day, although some might not feel comfortable doing so at night.
Room: The B&B appears to be an extensively renovated 19th century house. My room was on the ground level, with entrances from both the main house and the porch - great for privacy. The room was clean and good sized, with newer furniture in a traditional style. The bathroom was fine. The B&B is pet-friendly, and I saw a dog and cat in the common area.
Food and amenities: Beyond eating breakfast, I didn't use the common areas, which include a pool and a garden. There's a refrigerator in an outdoor area stocked with water and other soft drinks. For breakfast, there's a Keurig for coffee; food was well-prepared, and included muffins, fruit, and quiche.
Staff members were welcoming and friendly.
The George Brooks House is a nice option if you want seclusion within easy striking distance of the St. Michaels town center.
