Owner description: It all started during a family dinner with a joking statement of “lets make our own whisky.” With a shared love for good whisky and fascination to see how things are made, this father and son team decided to explore the idea. David and David Woods researched and studied (and some say obsessed) over how to build a still and process alcohol. Now, winning awards, the Woods family understand that they have created something very special.

Book the founders tour, you will not be disappointed! David sr gives a very informative tour while at the same time weaving in the type of life lessons and wisdom that money cannot buy. We thoroughly enjoyed the tasting but took away much more than that! Hope we have the chance to return!!

Rustic distillery making handcrafted small batch liquors. Whiskey, rum, vodka and gin. Try a sampler of each. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

We were looking for one last thing to do during our last day in York ME. We decided to stop at the Wiggly Bridge Distillery. We are glad we did. There was a storm brewing outside and it was the off season, so the four of us were the only ones there. We were warmly greeted by a young and energetic staff. We sat at their bar read their menu and started sampling their products. After a while, with it being lunch time and all, we got hungry. We inquired about the sandwich shop next door (York 54). We were told it was fabulous. And, that if we wanted, we could order the sandwiches on our phone, go pick them up and bring them back to the distillery. This is what we wound up doing. The staff at Wiiggly Bridge Distillery was so warm and accommodating. We enjoyed a delicious sandwich in the comfortable confines of the Distillery. We learned more about their offerings and programs.
We highly recommend a visit to this Distillery if you are in the area. I had neve been to a Distillery before and I found it quite interesting.

Very interesting renovation of an old barn, friendly bartender and excellent drinks. I also tried the small batch bourbon over ice and I was controlling myself to not shoot it. Venue is small, but we were there on a Friday off season so no problems parking or getting a seat at the bar. They are coming out with a Tequila in May so we plan to go back then. Limited food, cheese plates so don't go hungry, just thirsty!

What a fabulous distillery tour. It is located in a rustic old barn. Inside they have a craft cocktail bar and store. This family run business was started by a father and son and is a true labor of love. You can see it in the quality of their products.

My mom, sister and I booked the tour which started with our choice of a craft cocktail off of their menu which included cocktails made from the Wiggly Bridge Distillery whiskey, white whiskey, white rum, dark rum, vodka or gin. We had the Grapefruit Gimlet, The Liberator and Bourbon bog. All were very well balanced delicious drinks. You can tell they put a lot of thought into their drink menu.

Next they gave us some background and history of how the distillery got started and could see the operation from a glass window above. They have open barrels bubbling away. You can also see there self designed and hand made copper stills. Then the owner, Dave, explained his process and how they team up with other local businesses to expand each others products and exposure. They even give their left over used grain to a local farmer so there is very little waste. They are currently working on an new agave spirit. (American tequila)

After the tour, we had a tasting of all of the spirits they make with an explanation and description of each. Their whiskey has a wonderful aroma and offers flavors of caramel and vanilla. They have a delicious gin. That is not your ordinary gin with notes of pepper, spice and floral tones. The dark rum has notes of brown sugar and butterscotch. The white whiskey is stronger tasting and is 100 proof. Their vodka is not as filtered as other brands but is ok. The white rum is perfect for your favorite tropical drink.

I took my Dad a few days later just to have drink. He had the cranberry old fashioned and loved it so much he is planning on coming back and bringing some friends along.

Don't miss this unique experience while visiting York!
