“Respite from Everyday Life”
Reviewed 19 November 2017 for a stay in September 2017

we have summered at Paul"s cottage for 4 yrs. Kathy and Jay are lovely, warm hosts and are available as needed but are respectful of your privacy. The property is just remote enough to decompress but every activity you want to engage in is available and only a short ride away. We hike, bike, kayak, tour and dine in fantastic local restaurants. Every yr we look forward to planning different hikes, researching new excursions and discovering new restaurants. We will return to Acadia next yr and are most excited to include our new grandson in discovering all its wonders.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. As you mentioned, there is so much to do here on Mount Desert Island/Acadia National Park. I think another favorite of yours will be to take your grandson for a swim at Echo Lake. I know my grandchildren love to be there. Then they like to come back here to explore for some treasures along the shore. You and your family are always welcome to stay with us.

“simple, peaceful, and beautiful getaway”
Reviewed 6 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

A simple and elegant cabin situated directly on the rocky ledge of Southwest coast.
Beautiful views of surrounding islands and a wonderful stone fireplace.
A peaceful and relaxing winter retreat for us!

“As advertised!”

We were very pleased with Paul's Cottage overall. We particularly enjoyed the following aspects of staying there: 1. the awesome view of Blue Hill Bay from the living room and brand new deck, 2. the huge fireplace with complimentary wood in the living room, 3. comfortable beds, 4. washer and dryer, and 5. full kitchen supplies. In comparison to these amenities, we had only minor complaints: 1) spotty Wi-Fi reception, 2. fuzzy TV reception; and 3. uncomfortable wicker chairs in the living room. These issues were not a big deal because we were there to escape technology (for the most part) and spent much of our time at the cottage relaxing in the comfortable chairs on the outside deck. Our host, Kathy, was available next door, but we did not need anything during our stay. We would stay there again.

“We will keep coming back!”

My husband and I found this place in 2005 and we absolutely fell in love with it. We have come back at least once per year since then. The cottage is on the peaceful "Quietside" of the island so you can relax, yet close to everything Acadia National Park has to offer. The huge fireplace is perfect for chilly fall nights; the sunsets off the back deck are breath-taking; and on most mornings we saw a bald eagle flying overhead. We can't imagine staying anywhere else when we come to Maine!

Liked best: The back deck overlooking the water. Great for eating dinner, playing chess and watching sunsets!
Liked least: There was nothing we disliked about this property.
