My husband and I visited in late October from the Houston area. We were looking for a change of pace and East Coast charm and were not disappointed. The house was located in a quiet neighborhood with great views of the bay. The house itself was spacious, adorably decorated and very comfortable. We were thrilled with the comfy mattress, soft pillows and high quality linens which made sleeping in a true luxury. The location was perfect for exploring the area and short trips into Portand. Parking at the house was easy- there was a private driveway. Also, the house was close to the bay and beach area. There was a cute trail from the back yard area out to the street leading to the beach- which was a short walk. The backyard was cozy and we enjoyed using the fire in the evenings.
I can’t say enough to express the above and beyond service we received from the hostess. We had fresh baked brownies waiting for us upon arrival. She also provided advice and recommendations for activities and restaurants in the area. She was extremely helpful during a bit of an unusual circumstance- a Nor’Easter came through on our second day. Unfortunately, it knocked out internet and cable. This was a bit of a bummer since we wanted to watch the World Series. Our hostess really came through by letting us watch the game from one of her other area rentals.
This was truly a great experience. I highly recommend this rental. I would love to come back sometime!
My husband, sister, two teenagers, and I stayed for 10 days in May. We loved it so much, we didn't want to leave.
The cottage is beautifully decorated, with views of Casco Bay, just a block from Willard Beach, within minutes of downtown Portland and Cape Elizabeth. You couldn't ask for a better location.
The property was very clean and you could tell that the owners really love and care for this place. The cottage had everything you could need, with a fully kitted out kitchen down to coffee, sugar, and a large selection of spices. Our host, Marilys, even baked a cake to welcome us.
The beds were comfortable, the linens plush and plentiful. We enjoyed sitting around the gas fireplace on chilly evenings. There was plenty of space for my two teenagers to spread out. There was a huge book full of recommendations of things to do and where to eat.
One highlight of our trip was "dog park hours" on Willard Beach. In the morning and evening for two hours, dogs are allowed off leash on the beach. The furry mayhem was a joy to watch. We wished we had brought our dog.
We stayed here for five days and thoroughly enjoyed our time at this place. Awesome house in a great neighborhood close to many restaurants and other activities. Marilys was very friendly and easy to work with. We all gave it a thumbs up. The beds were heavenly and the kitchen beautiful and very functional. Don't hesitate to stay. We made use of fireplace and the outdoor fire pit.
