We visited Claws a few weeks ago on our way to islesboro, ME. The place looked good and was well-reviewed, so we figured we were in for a real treat. Being from Boston, we know good seafood.
First the fried clams - They certainly looked good but were as soggy as the day is long. How can an establishment that specializes in serving Maine seafood miss the mark so badly on such a basic thing.
Then the lobster roll - The best way to describe it is flavorless. We chose the version with drawn butter. Apparently it had been sitting in the bun for a while because the bread turned into a paste and lost all integrity. The meat was overdone to boot.
We would gladly have sent it back as it was a travesty to spend $50 for what we received, however, we had a ferry to catch to the island so we had to grin and bear it.
Would never go back unless management offered some incentive for us to try it again.
