Due to family matters my boyfriend and I were delayed in making vacation plans this year and bemoaned the fact that we might find it difficult to obtain a good rental for our summer vacation. However perseverance paid off and I came across Pine Ledge in my searching. We could not have found a more perfect place for our vacation. Pine Ledge is a beautifully maintained 2 bedroom cabin on Hosmer's Pond, just a few minutes outside the town of Camden Maine. It was really ideal for both of us; my boyfriend brought his canoe and fishing gear and spent much of his time on the pond fishing (catch and release only), while I indulged my hobby of watercolor painting on the screened in porch which offers a glorious view of the lake. This home was built before many of the other homes surrounding the lake, and the original owner chose well - perched on an outcrop of rock, it is surrounded by water on 3 sides, and though the owner lives in a more modern home close by, a hillock of ground and the cabin's setting closer to the water down a slope gives wonderful privacy.
We really enjoyed the sense of being "away from it all", though Camden was just a few minutes away by car and provided all we could need in the way of grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. Camden also offers a number of sailing ship options, so in all this was the PERFECT place to stay in Maine.
People with disabilities may have trouble as the parking area is at the top of a slope which must be traversed on foot, though roofing tiles on the ground give good traction even if wet.
