The Cascade Condo at the Sunday River is an accurately rated two star lodging. We stayed on the 3rd floor. The unit has 2 floors, with sleep quarters in the loft, which makes it quiet.

The best part is the location, it is a True Ski in Ski out location. Literally 20-30 steps to the hill, and it takes 30 seconds to ski to the gondola

If you have been to other ski resorts (say Tremblant, Jay Peak, or Killington), the Cascade is very spacious and has considerably more space than most), The kitchen is stocked with cutleries, pots and pans for 4. It has detergent, and other basic stuff. The unit, despite being 2 star is very clean. No weird smell at all. The hallways however, does have some weird smells.

Room has daily Towel service. They appear reasonably clean.

I want to emphasize that people at the Cascade, and Sunday River are very friendly. If you are from a big city, the friendliness you encounter here will put city folks to shame.

There is a pool, but we never used it. Common areas are all very clean.
Parking space are plentiful.

Here comes the tougher parts:

1) We were told by the booking rep that there is a dishwasher, but there is none. As far as we know, no units have dishwasher.

2) The room has No Wi Fi access ! This is 2015, how can there be no Wi Fi access ?!! It does have a Cat5 cable but we are Unsure if it has Internet.

3) there are no elevators in the building !!! Dragging luggages, food and equipment for an entire week's stay, is a major pain in the rear end. That's 4 flight of stairs. This is a deal breaker for us for the future.

4) the bathroom is extremely tiny, dated, but clean. Hot water runs out after two person takes showers, and you have to wait 30 mins. The shower head ( or shall we say the lack there of) is horrifying.

5) Mattresses in the room is dated and soft, think of Super 8 motel quality mattresses. But they are clean.

6) The thermostat is probably wonky, our room is always boiling, and we are forced to sleep with the windows open.

7). You do not check in or out at the Cascade. It is a bit confusing upon arrival as there are limited signage. You have to check in at the South Ridge main building to get keys, and then decipher your way through the confusing building.

8). Ski lockers are tiny, like high school locker and they are hidden in the basement without signs or instructions. Ski boots are not allowed beyond the locker area, so here is the dilemma, how do you fit all the shoes inside a dinky locker ? The logistics are simply impossible and a nightmare.

9) we had no hairdryer in the room, but they delivered one to us when we called the front desk at south ridge lodge.

Overall, the Cascade is akin to university dormitory, but we emphasize that it is clean and spacious. We encountered no rowdy crowds, which sometimes comes with lower price accommodations.

If we have a choice, we would prefer to pay more and stay at a location which had Wi Fi, Elevators and dishwashers.

Despite some short comings, We got what we paid for, so overall we are happy.

This condo has a great location - right up the hill from the Sunday River Chondola and main lodge area. We actually had another area reserved (White Cap), but Sunday river moved us (they said the unit was no longer available). It should be noted that this has happened several times over the years with us at Sunday River, where we reserve one complex and are moved to a completely different complex. This was the first time we stayed at Cascades, and we liked the location a lot.
Cons:
*The place is dated, and built like a dorm
*The units are not that well maintained but acceptable. For instance, light bulbs were burnt out. When we called they never brought them, we had to call again the next day
*Service is not great - some days the maids provide fresh towels, some days they forgot to come
Pros:
Excellent location with great ski in/ski out
Nice indoor pool, conveniently located in the same building
Overall a great value, which is why I gave it 4 stars

but the bang for the buck gives it 4 starts. The highlights are the slope side skiing and indoor pool.

We spent 5 nights here in February 2012. The condo was great with 2 double beds in the downstairs bedroom and if you needed it a pull out sofa in the main living area. Great for a family of four but would be cramped with any more. The furnishings were a little dated and the provided crockery and silverware was cobbled together to make a set for 6 people. There was no dishwasher so everything had to be done by hand. The BIG disappointment was there was no internet access in the condo or the complex and this should be remedied. This was very inconvenient especially as I could only get GSM coverage so could not even get my emails via the Blackberry. On the positive side, towels and coffee were replenished and changed daily as was trash collection. The location was ideal as it was so close to South Ridge that you could walk down to the bar and also The Mountain Grocer shop.

The Cascades is a bit dated. We stayed in a privately rented 1BR condo. Your mileage may vary -- especially with ones from the rental program.

Parking is enforced at one car. Got away with a second car and a photocopied parking pass. A guard is posted on the parking lot in the mornings. Enforcement was probably light due to the poor weather.

Ski storage in the basement is very poor for rentals. The lockers are incredibly small. Forget a snowboard. Our unit recommended passing up equipment to the second floor balcony.

Nice pool and hot tub. Good (but popular) washers and driers.

Location is outstanding. Easy access to the lifts, close enough for people to walk up/down to the base if necessary.

Weather was terrible so left early (rain, then bitter cold). Part of the new england ski experience. Already booked for this year, though.

We've stayed at many different ski resort condos in the Northeast as well as out west, and Cascades is at the bottom of the list. In short, the place completely lacks the type of charm you'd expect at a ski condo.

Overall service was also lacking. Prior to arriving, we were told by two different agents to check-in at the South Ridge Base Lodge. After a 3 hour drive from Boston, we got to the base lodge to find it closed (even though it was only 9:30pm). We had to drive to another building to check in, and when we finally got to the condo, we found it to be run-down, cramped, and rather uncomfortable. Looking forward to unloading our fresh groceries, we were also disappointed to find the refrigerator at room temperature, with its doors propped open.

Needless to say, we won't be staying at Cascades again.
