One very busy woman was taking orders, herding her kids, cooking the food, answering the phone and waiting on tables, with no help. It took a half hour for my breakfast to arrive. The pancake was overcooked but at least they use real maple syrup. The former owners had a full staff to keep this from happening.

We are so glad we found this little gem tucked into a side street near the harbor. The Starlight is not fancy at all but has a certain charm. It was clean, attractive, and seemed well managed. You place an order at the counter and then pick it up when it is ready. Prices are very reasonable.

Luckily we were there on a Friday, the day they serve haddock chowder. It was delicious, as was my Sort-of-Reuben 1/2 sandwich. My husband said his sandwich was very good, also.
Starlight is a great place for a quick lunch after visiting the Maine Maritime Museum or any other time you find yourself in Bath.

We were looking for a late breakfast while driving down the Maine coast and Bath looked like an appealing blue collar town. So we parked and asked a local where to get good food at a fair price. She suggested the Starlight. Good advice. Located in a basement, you enter directly off the street. They have seating for 15 - 20 and everything is cooked to order. You get your own coffee and bus the table when leaving. Home fries with corned beef was a hit and they served homemade sausage. But everything was good.

The starlight has been around for ages and is consistently awesome. Nothing fancy, just welcoming atmosphere and really good homestyle cookin'. Love it. Family friendly.
