Loved the Plantation House visit to Oak Park but less sure about the Swamp Tour. Really not interested in the family life or photo album of the boat driver who talked too much about himself and often seemed to forget that we were there to see animals! There were a few people around us rolling their eyes as he told us about his wife, children and pets and then suddenly seemed to remember that we were there for another purpose. Coach driver was excellent at driving but had no idea how to make the air con work!

My friends and I did the combined swamp tour and plantation tour. This is definitely cheaper than purchasing the tickets separately (especially if you don't have a car/are not renting one). The pick up window is between 10:30 and 11 at your hotel (within a certain distance). We waited less than 10 minutes before the shuttle bus came. From there, it was about an hour drive to the swamp location. Once you arrive, you have to check in again, which was pretty annoying because there were several shuttle bus-full of people, all trying to crowd into this small office. I think they need to come up with a better system for this. Aside from that, everything else was smooth sailing. The swamp tour is about 1.5 hours (beware: no bathrooms on the boat), and we saw a few gators. We even got to hold a baby gator!
They let you bring drinks on the boat too (yes, we were drinking at 11:30 am...it was a bachelorette party so I think that's a good enough excuse!)

Our next stop was the plantation, and you get to choose between Oak Alley and Laura Plantation. They say that Oak Alley is more for photo ops, since it's more picturesque. Laura is more for learning about the history. After they, the drop off at the hotel is around 6 pm.

I'd definitely recommend this combo tour for anyone who's visiting NOLA and doesn't have a whole lot of time.

Our family had such a great time on this tour!! Our pleasant driver picked us up at our hotel which was so convenient. The tour itself was fabulous! Our guide was so knowledgeable about the swamp and funny, too. Anytime I looked out, I could see an alligator swimming along in the water. We had the chance to hold a baby- that was a neat experience to touch one. This was a highlight of our trip! The whole family loved it! Thanks so much!

If you have ever wanted to take in a swamp your this is the one! It is different from the rest because it is on private land. The staff are great... Stephanie, Nick, & Captain Danny are the best. You will see numerous alligators, raccoons, and other wildlife. It is also very educational and most will learn a thing or two. I highly recommend it!
