We engaged with Geiner almost as soon as we met him. Such a personable man! He presents the information so well that it would be hard not to be interested in the process by which chocolate is made. I learned a lot that day and the tour was one of the highlights of our holiday in Costa Rica. His communication skills were just excellent and we loved the humour too. Geiner was extremely knowledgeable about his work but also about the natural world around him. We found him dedicated, passionate and committed to the preservation work that his country is doing.Thank you very much for giving us such a favourable impression of the country that you clearly love. Kind regards and thanks again, David and Angela Shrimpton PS and thanks for all the chocolate!!

we loved the tour, it explained everything about cacoa, chocolate and a lot more. Very socially engaged. They gave us all the time we needed, more chocolate then we could eat. It is very interactive. We went with small kids and it was perfectly arranged for them as well!!!

It was pouring rain and it seemed like it was necessary to take a break from hiking. We decided to attended the family-run chocolate tour in Sarapiqui. What a delight! The small chocolate plantation serves as a base to explore the history, the harvesting and manufacturing of chocolate. The tour guides were fun, informative and committed to making a living on their previously neglected family plot of land. To see the entire process going from obtaining beans to creating edible, delicious chocolate was time very well spent. Knowing that it is a socially responsible family enterprise makes it especially rewarding. Highly recommended way to deepen ones understanding of Costa Rica. And to sample some lovely, made on the spot chocolate!

This is so much more than a visit to taste chocolate (but you will). The family who run the tour are deeply committed to spreading the word about how climate change will affect the rainforest and their way of life. They also give a really interesting history of the cacao. You will get to participate in the entire process of making chocolate. from shelling the cacao to grinding to mixing. It is a fascinating two hours. BTW, the chocolate is amazing.

Very nice tour !! I recommend this activity if you stop in Sarapiqui. It was very interesting. We made the visit with Andre. He explained to us the story of cacao, and after we made and ate chocolate.
