The Interpretive Centre in Clara village was closed when we arrived (Feb 2017). It doesn't open until the end of March apparently. But the Bog Boardwalk is only a short spin away down a narrow bumpy road (it is signposted). There is room to park off the road for a few cars/motorcycles. The Boardwalk is 1km long and meanders across the bog. Unfortunately there wasn't much to see in the way of flora or fauna. Maybe we picked the wrong time of year to visit?

Bogs are so much a part of Ireland--if you have never seen one this has a mile loop boardwalk with decent displays and visitor center. Pets allowed and lots of locals stroll about it.

I really like doing the km block here . It's so peaceful and stunning scenery. Can be a little slippy if it's been raining but beautiful on a sunny day !!

Decided to find the bog and walk around on a whim, and it was definitely worth it!

There were only 2 other people there -- both locals there for a bit of exercise. So we basically got the whole boardwalk to ourselves to wander around, take pictures, read informative signs, and just experience the beauty of the land.

Definitely worth the stop!

Off the beaten path, this 30-minute walk along a wooden boardwalk through a bog includes plenty of displays that explain what a bog is, and what it is used for. Bogs abound in Ireland and there are many venues that will later explain how the peat is extracted, how it was historically used for fuel and is still used for roofs. We learned a lot.
