Quite little stopover

Review of Pitch-Up SA
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Mar 2019via mobile
Stayed at this rustic little camp site in our way down to Wilderness from Joburg. Bethulie has a lot of history for such a sleepy village. caravan stands have power and the ablutions were clean. Would stay there again.

This was our second (and probably last) visit to Pitch-Up. Going to Durban again, we thought to stay over again after our previous pleasant stay. This time, sadly, it was not so good. There was a lot of dust and I battled to sleep. The dam's water was not very clean at all. The town also was very noisy past 02h00 with cars driving up and down throughout the night. Whilst Pitch-Up can not do anything about the town's noise, a simple hose-down of the tent would have helped a lot. The inside of the tent was clean and neat. But I battled to breath. On the way back we found alternative accommodation.

Room tip: Not close to the dirt road

We went with the bike up to visit the kids from Cape Town to Durban and were looking for a nice halfway stop. We stumbled on to Pitch-Up and were very glad that they could accommodate us, it being over a long weekend at the start of school holidays.

Ann was very nice and personally met us and showed us the ropes. The swim in the dam was all we needed after spending the day in 36-39 degree weather. The only downside to the tent, was a bit of a foul smell coming from the stream. This is probably because it hadn't rained in a while. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay. The beds are very comfortable and there is electricity in the tent. The tent is also very spacious.

I will recommend it and we will be back. Just take note: Bethulie town has very little variety to offer after hours. The one shop only takes cash
