Our stay in the Farmers Cottage was the result of having spent a night at the Karoo Pandok a while back. This time we spent three days in what could only be described as lush greenery for a usually very dry area. Benefiting from the rain the true beauty of the area is evident everywhere. Our accommodation was clean and practical, we enjoy self catering. Staff and management are all incredibly friendly and worth chatting to. Webwere adopted by Bonnie the resident black Labrador who is the soul of friendliness and very well behaved. Lovely company for a beautiful sunrise in a lucerne field. The town is small but caters for many tastes and the is a friendly atmosphere and enthusiasm wherever you go. We would definitely go back and stay for a few days again. Afternoon naps and tea on the verandah is a luxury we seldom indulge in and Karoo Pondok and Bethulie make it an absolute treat.

Unfortunately this was not our best accommodation this holiday. Night one we had little sleep as the guest house owners dog barked till after 12 pm as she was out and left it locked in the room next door to us with the tv on very loud. After calls to her and sms's as well as to the owner we got no response, and no apology in the morning.

The beds are very comfy, and the linen clean. The room Was pleasant. However, the shower needs upgrading, the water flows back into the bathroom and wets the entire floor. So going to the loo at night is a wet feet affair.

The tvs are very outdated, and in fact we could not get ours to work. The aircon in room 3, shows its on 31 but blows cold air, not warm air.
The microwave, does not have the correct turntable in it, and therefore it slips off and bangs around inside the microwave.
The plug in the hand basin does not hold the water, so u have to keep the tap running to shave or wash your face.

Pity there is no wifi or hair dryers, but this we noted.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Karoo Pandok and could not find any fault. The pet friendly cottage is fully fenced with plenty of space for our dog to run free and play fetch. The unit is spotless and tastefully decorated. Loved every bit of our stay!

The was the perfect stop over on our journey between Cape Town and Johannesburg. Located close to the Gariep Dam in an historically rich town, Karoo Pandok has great facilities in a beautiful setting. The hosts are also great!
