“Stunning house”

The house is extremely comfortable and well appointed, and is packed full of history and curiosities. A stunning place, and a real treat. Highly recommended.

“Amazing”
Reviewed 29 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

You can see from the pictures the place is amazing. Nicho in charge of the place was great too, easy to get hold of and very flexible. He also made some recommendations for caterers who were very good. And posted back a soft toy one of the kids forgot!
Extended family of 8 adults and 3 kids stayed for 2 nights, and we had a few guests in on a Saturday. Everyone couldn't believe how lovely the house was, and it made a really relaxing weekend. Even with a lot of people, the house is so spacious, everyone had their own space. Although we spent most of the time in the lovely kitchen sitting around the big round table and chatting . (With the kids in the library watching sky!).
House was very clean, and beds very comfortable. Also the kitchen is very well equipped - if you like making your own baby food there's even a food processor / blender in there too.
We didn't use the tennis courts, but we did use the pool. It's quite big for a private pool, and quite deep! So if you bring little kids - make sure you bring flotation aids / be prepared to go in with them - 4 year old couldn't touch the floor!
We actually didn't leave the house all weekend apart from to nip to the local shop for the odd essential.

“A birthday to remember”
Reviewed 5 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We stayed at Great Tangley Manor last weekend to celebrate a 70th birthday with our children and grandchildren. It was a real privilege to stay in a house so steeped in history and so beautifully cared for. In spite of being so old, the manor was really cosy, on a very chilly weekend, and extremely comfortable. The children had a wonderful time playing hide and seek, and everyone enjoyed the use of the swimming pool. The house was very well provided with just about everything you might need. We loved being at Great Tangley Manor so much that 3 of us, plus a baby, stayed on for an extra night to wallow in the atmosphere, while the others had to go back to work and school. We would love to return for another visit. It is a very special place.

“Absolute perfection!”
Reviewed 18 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

I booked the Manor for a New Years stay for my family, as we live all over the world. The Manor is exceptionally beautiful (the photos do not come close to actually seeing the property first hand) and we all felt so fortunate having the opportunity to stay somewhere so steeped in history. We did have however, all the required modern comforts..modern kitchens, bathrooms, heating (its is and OLD house) and even WiFi. My husband really enjoyed the amazing library. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, the local pubs quaint (if you can bring yourself to leave the house!) and the shopping in nearby Guilford was excellent. Our host Nicho gave us a very informative guided tour including some history of the house.

It was 3 days I will never forget and we hope to book this Manor again sometime in the future.

Thanks Nicho and family for sharing this remarkable place with us!

“Perfect spot for our big family reunion”
Reviewed 16 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Our family group of six (two grandparents, two parents, and two teenage daughters) spent 11 wonderful days at Great Tangley Manor earlier this summer for a big international family reunion. The location was ideal as a home base for exploring sites all over southeast England and London, and its combination of splendid isolation and proximity to all the conveniences of nearby Guildford was fantastic. The property is beautiful, with lots of interesting garden elements and places to wander or sit in peaceful seclusion. The house is grand and historic, but not stuffy or uncomfortable for children (or even grandparents). The kitchen was very well-equipped, enough so that we stayed in several nights that we had planned to eat out. The split bedroom configuration (three up, two down) worked very well for us, with grandparents downstairs off on their own (with no stairs, and their different sleep schedules from our teenagers). In addition to the facilities, we were also very happy with the services provided for our rental. The owners, being right on the property, were available to answer any questions and make recommendations, but without being intrusive in any way. The manager, Nicho, was fantastic, especially in helping ensure that our grandparents got away stress-free the day after the rest of us had left. We took several of our hosts' recommendations, including catering, and so had a wonderful welcome dinner prepared and served by Keeley's Kitchen in our own gorgeous dining room. We also used the recommended car service, to our grandparents' great satisfaction. All in all, we would say that GTM is a very special place indeed, and we cannot recommend it highly enough.
