Bay View Lodge

We stayed at Bayview for 12 days in August. We were in number 5 which is 30meters to the beach with a nice garden. All the units are very close to the beach.
The units are a little old but clean and more than adequate. The domestic staff come every day to keep the unit clean and were all very pleasant.
The unit has a bedroom with double bed and mozzie net. A lounge / kitchen with decent fridge and gas cooker. A nice deck with a braai and a couple of deck chairs for lounging around.
Its a two minute walk to the Green Turtle ( a really nice restaurant ) and Neptune's beach bar, very informal and reasonably priced for food and drink.
The management at Bayview were super helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them.
The internet is a bit slow but hey ..... are you coming all the way to the back of beyond to sit on your IPad ????

Room Tip: Number 4 and 5 are nearest the sea but they are all OK the farthest room is 100m to the beach so no...

Bayview lodge is by far the best and most reasonable place to stay in Barra. Its protected from the weather, but yet right on the beach. the host and hostess shows fantastic service and hospitality. The cottages are spacious and comfortable and have 24 hour security. Visit your dream house on the beach!!

The basic, but clean accommodation is a few steps from one of Mozambique's beautiful beaches and 10 minutes drive from Tofu Beach. Spend some time on the beaches conversing with the friendly local traders - selling handmade souvenirs. Most of the self-serving accommodations have a sea view. You can spend your time enjoying the beach or marvel in the African sunset having sun downers on your own private deck. Try to spare some time to visit Imhabane city - a mixture of old-world colonial charm and modern, informal African enterprises.

Room Tip: Unit 5 is only a few steps from the beach and restaurant. Has a wooden walkaway to the restaurant.

If you were closer to the beach you would be ON the beach! The self catering accommodation is simple but comfortable and importantly has air conditioning in all the bedrooms. Sharon who manages the lodge is a star and will go out of her way to make sure her guests are happy, even loaning you some of her husband's beer when you run out :)

Room Tip: Chalet 5 is the closest to the beach.

We were headed for an other lodge but arrived when there was a music festival in the area. Most of the lodges were full so we ended up at Barra View Lodge. It turned out to be a very good place to stay. We got a whole house to ourselves about a hundred metres from the beach. The house was clean and well equipped. We have nothing to complain about. There was even reasonably fast wifi at the reception.
Next to us on the beach was a bar/restaurant called Neptunus that served quite OK food and at the end of our stay the Green Turtle opened. That's the restaurant right in front of the lodge. One rainy evening we had an excellent dinner there.
