Review we had a great time staying in Gortin. The house was very clean and well kept with a lovely wood burning fire. Everything you need is already in the property I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. Plenty of parking space and really quiet at night. We found lots to do close by with Sperrin mountains and also American folk museum.
I stay in self catering rentals every year, all over the British Isles and this is by far the best I've stayed in. When we arrived there was coffee, tea, milk, biscuits and eggs all ready for us so after a very long journey we could relax with a drink straight away. This is the best equipped rental I have ever stayed in, everything in the kitchen you could have needed was there, even down to kitchen roll and dishwasher tablets. Size-wise this house was perfect for the four of us. Spacious downstairs and a bedroom each upstairs, including a spare that we stored our car luggage box in. With 2 bathrooms there was no fighting over it in the morning. The location was great - central to all we wanted to see - just a 90 minute drive from Belfast, Giants causeway, Gobbins, etc, and just a 15 minute drive from Omagh where we hired a tennis court for an hour.. The local shops in Gortin were great, very friendly and sold all we needed, (The icecream at Vivo is delicious!) except a choice of meat - the village butcher has recently closed so had to travel to Omagh. We spend several evenings in Mossey's bar, again, very friendly and welcoming, - a typical village pub with a big screen and a pool table, but still cosy. Our holiday home landlady was available, but not intrusive, and during our stay a neighbour popped round to give us some free home grown veg. The only 2 very small things I would say could be improved - 1: the front windows need nets; with the house facing the street we felt too open to people looking in as they walked past, so needed the blinds closed when we were at home, and 2: The TV system with the sky box was a little complicated, Took us a while to work out how to watch the telly but couldn't get local news (Only East Anglia news for some reason) and after around an hour we gave up trying to work out how to watch a dvd! More detailed instructions would be beneficial. (To be fair we didn't really have much need to watch tv anyway and we ended up watching our dvds on our laptop) Also we did notice a rather unpleasant drain smell in the utility room after a bout of heavy rain. It disappeared after half a day but maybe this needs looking at. Will definitely recommend this property to friends though.
Stayed here for two weeks with my two sons and had a lovely time. The house itself is light, spacious and extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen (total dream to cook in with nothing but the best equipment). Great central heating with a gorgeous wee log burner in the living room. Easy access to shops, chemist and a superb childrens playground, all within 2 minutes walk. Wonderful takeaway shop, again just two minutes walk. Owner is very welcoming and pick up of keys etc is very easy. Highly recommend this place to base yourself for seeing the surrounding area.
