Visited after a long walk in the Langdales. Great food, large portions and well priced.

Wide choice of real ales too.

The views from the beer garden are brilliant - looking at the Langdales.

You won't go wrong at this Inn.

Only in for a drink - on the hottest day I've ever had in Langdale. Good range of local beers, friendly staff. The food was standard pub grub but, peering over people's shoulders, it looked absolutely fine. Excellent outdoor seating.
Understandably they've gone for a version of the Dungeon Ghyll decor - which took 100 years - and, largely, it works pretty well.

Went to the Wainwrights Inn for an evening meal. Ordered the Caprese salad with mozarella, tomato and rocket. Had to wait 45 minutes for my meal and when it came what I got was four slices of mozarella, four slices of tomato, making up half a tomato in total and a single leaf of rocket the size of a five pence coin. This wasn't a meal, it wasn't even a snack or a side dish. At £5.75 it was a lot of money for a tiny portion of pretentious food. I left the Wainwrights feeling disappointed, cheated and every bit as hungry as I had been when I went in.

Very good pub food, and a fine selection of beers, including many local ones. We had wings, followed by smoked ribs and smoked brisket, all of which were fantastic, and very good value. The bees were also excellent, but getting served, or paying was a bit of bun fight.

We decided to revisit Wainwrights on the last night of our holiday; we were staying locally.
Enjoying the walk to and back from the pub on a beautiful evening with fantastic scenery to admire. We readily found a table and relaxed into a very enjoyable evening. The food was really delicious, the service good and the staff really friendly.
We've been lots of times before but it's as good as ever for a relaxed informal evening.
My only minor comment was that the wine could have been more chilled. We certainly were!
