I did not know of the existence of this beautiful jewel box of a museum. It was the collection of the owner of the American Singer sewing machine company. They loved Laren and the late 19th/early 20th century "second" Dutch school of painters so much that they moved there from America & were patrons of the arts.
The building itself is quite beautiful and so is the collection. Private rooms, wood paneled with glowing fires, where you can have a drink and relax. Nice gift shop and cafe. Self-service cloakroom with free lockers. Signs in Dutch and in English.
