Our tour of southern India ended in Kochi. We planned to continue on to Sri Lanka, flying on the following day. This hotel, 5 minutes from the airport, was an obvious choice.
This establishment has all the requirement for an airport hotel: Free transfer, early breakfast, good soundproofing, and solid connection to the internet.
Checkin provided my first surprise. I noticed a placard advertising Marriott Rewards and mentioned that I was already a member. One main reason for joining this program is to get free "premium" WiFi in the room. Another perq though was a free room upgrade based on availability. We were in luck and got bumped up to a suite, a very nice room.
I noticed a wifi repeater in the closet and hoped it was working. It was, and I took advantage of the great connection to upload a number of photos as well as cloud backup, which had been iffy for most of the tour so far.
Meals were buffet for breakfast and dinner, and up to the usual standard. For lunch, we ordered from the menu. Given the hour we arrived, early afternoon, service was a bit slow. Most of the guests had already finished eating. However, the meal was tasty and offered, a rarity for India, a real hamburger. Several people in our group couldn't pass up the opportunity to sample some real beef for a change.More
