Owner description: The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) operates the nation's second largest public transportation system and covers the City of Chicago and 35 surrounding suburbs. On an average weekday, approximately 1.6 million rides are taken on the CTA. The CTA is an independent governmental agency created by state legislation. We began operating on October 1, 1947, after acquiring the properties of the Chicago Rapid Transit Company and the Chicago Surface Lines. On October 1, 1952, CTA became the sole operator of Chicago transit when it purchased the Chicago Motor Coach system. Our mission “We deliver quality, affordable transit services that link people, jobs and communities.”

Although this is a review for city transit, I have no complaints about CTA. Of course there are busy times where it's difficult to get in comfortably, but no issues jumping on the next. Great service in a busy city.

Taking the train was very easy and efficient. I preferred it over uber but wasn't sure about it until after I used it several times. Clean in the trains, however outside the trains there was a foul odor everywhere. Reasonably priced.

Note, if travelling to Chicago, the CTA is the best way to get around. Super easy and not bad on your wallet. You should understand that not all the routes are the same and the homeless on the cars can be very aggressive. Lines on the north shore are pretty great, but there is always a need to be vigilant. Beware of the lines that go into questionable neighborhoods (e.g. Red Line south of Roosevelt). As I said there are also a lot of homeless that ride the trains. Best bet is to ignore them and not make eye contact. Do not give them money or say no, ignoring is the best bet. If they become aggressive, note that CTA has horrible security and you most likely will not see any security. Move to a different car or get off the train and catch the next one. Just be aware of your surroundings and enjoy this GREAT city.

This is the best way to get around Chicago. We took it from and to both airports. We also used it to get to Wrigley field. It was swift and safe.

Other than to an from Airports, I only walked in Chicago, everything is pretty easy to reach in the downtown area. The L and other train routes really seem to work.
