I traveled by car with 3 of my teenage children through Europe last summer, and one of our visits was to the Brittany area. We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment in an ancient roman building on this expansive, wooded estate for about a week. Our time there was wonderful. The estate was a perfect home base from which to visit the area's attractions. Mont St Micheal, St Malo, Quimper and Puy de Fou (DON'T MISS THIS PLACE!). We also discovered enchanting villages nearby (Josselin (architecture); Gacilly (artists, especially the jewelry artist there); Vannes (good food) and Carnac (think French Stonehenge). Our hosts suggested we visit a local 'vide grenier'--where an entire town puts on a flea market--and we had a fantastic time there (and found a lot of unique French souvenirs). Our hosts, the Monaco's, were wonderful--accommodating, fun and interesting. My kids and I loved our time at the estate--quiet mornings, walks in the woods and it was SOOOO quiet when we wanted to rest. The bedrooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable. We all have fond memories and would stay again at the Manoir du Mur on our next jaunt through the Brittany area.
