In an absolutely stunning location overlooking Lower Bay and very close to Princess Margaret Bay, a 25-minute walk from the town of Port Elizabeth. The villa has a wrap-around veranda, so you can choose to sit in the shade or the sun, if you can't be bothered to walk down to either of the beautiful adjacent beaches. The facilities in the villa are great (although having no hot water in the bathroom sinks was a bit odd. The hot water to the showers and the kitchen was fine!). Lots of attractive wildlife in the garden of the villa - colourful lizards, humming birds, and a large tortoise. We found that the best way to go shopping was to walk into town and then get a cab back. Lots of nice places to eat and drink nearby. Solana, the owner, was very helpful. Would we recommend this villa - well, we were there for a week, and while we were there, we booked to go back for 2 weeks next year!
Modern, clean, and quiet and a short walk to Lower Bay and its beautiful beach. The porch has perfect views of the harbor and of all the boats coming and going. Solana is very courteous and helpful. The house is on a rather steep road but it's great exercise coming and going, walk a couple of hills at home before heading to Bequia and you'll be all set!
Horizon is one of 3 properties within close proximity of each other which are all managed by Solana and her family. Spacious, well furnished and perfectly located with wonderful views of Lower Bay, Princess Margaret Beach and Admiralty Bay. It literally is a 5 minute downhill walk to both beaches and slightly longer climbing back up. A walk into town via the beach and the belmont walkway is around 15-20 minutes and perfectly manageable. There is a bus stop at the top of the road for the more adventureous. Horizon is the perfect place to chill. The cottage is fully equipped and there are fans and aircon in both bedrooms. For those who insist on Wi-Fi, the connection was excellent and never let us down once. There is cable TV, however, it only got turned on once by Solana to show us how it worked when we arrived. We never watched any TV. Who would want to, frankly ?
Self-catering was dead easy. The kitchen easy to manage and the washing machine a blessing. Lots of clothes are not a big priority. Shopping downtown at Knights and Doris's gave us everything we wanted and we got our fruit and veg from Darkie in town, who also supplies Rick at the Bourbon Grill. Pikie was our taxi for the stay and for local knowledge, history, reliability and friendliness, was hard to beat. In fact, overall this was a 5 star experience, only slightly marred by the time of year when mosquitos are rife. However, with sufficient DEET, insect repellant and Baygon Coils, it's manageable. No sign of CHIK V, so don't listen to all those scare stories. They're nonsense. Perhaps, all the CHIK V mosquitos headed off to Mustique, where the blood available is significantly richer.

First time on the island of Bequia and we couldn't have picked a better spot to enjoy our time here. Very peaceful and comfortable, we were soon settled in to our holiday and Solana was extremely helpful with any questions we had both before the actual booking and during our stay at the Villa and would have no hesitation in recommending this property. Bequia is a gem of an island unspoilt and beautiful.
Whilst there, we had a trip on the Friendship Rose to the magical Tobago Cays islands. An amazing memorable day. There are a number of good quality restaurants nearby and taxis are good for getting around the island. Would also recommend the trip to see the turtles. The beaches (closest Lower Bay) are just a short walk from Villa Horizon and would highly recommend De Reef for lobster whilst watching the sun go down. Can't wait to go back!
