My husband and I had planned to stay at this B&B, apparently under new ownership as of summer, 2006, so called and made the reservation for our anniversary, gave our VISA on the *telephone* complete with number, expiration date and security code on the reverse of the card and to our surprise, the next morning, here came via *email* a form to return to them to secure the reservation *listing* the VISA number, expiration date, security code! Again, this was after we gave all of that to the B&B on the telephone. I called our credit card company--they were appalled--and advised I cancel the card immediately since everyone world-wide could have viewed those details due to our email not being "secure" and the B&B's email would not be as well. It took me weeks to get all of our automatically charged accounts (gas, electric, cable, 2 newspapers, Walgreen's prescription auto-pay, Netflix, AOL, life insurance, auto insurance, home-owners insurance, Triple A, Caremark Prescription services and more, changed. In addition, it goes against your credit rating when you cancel a credit card..for whatever reason. A very unpleasant lesson indeed.
