Description: Established in 1999. With three locations in Boise, Eagle and Coeur d'Alene that capture the spirit of Idaho and the Northwest, Bardenay Restaurant and Distillery is a cornerstone of Idaho's restaurant and bar industry. The original establishment is located in a once empty warehouse on the Historic Basque Block in downtown Boise, Idaho. On April 25th, 2000, history was made when we served the first cocktail to included spirits distilled in a restaurant in the US. As the nation's first restaurant distillery, Bardenay has set an industry precedent as the first full service restaurant and bar with the ability to create handcrafted liquor on-site. Our distillers are happy to give tours as time allows. Please ask your server if you are interested in a closer look at our operations. p.s. We are only allowed to sell our fine spirits by the drink. If you would like to purchase a bottle, you may do so at many of our state liquor stores.

There were about a dozen of us from all over the planet in CDA for a family reunion. Chose Bardenay for a farewell dinner, based on reviews and a recommendation from family member, and were not disappointed. Seating was easy, no moving tables to accommodate us was necessary. This was on a Sunday evening about 7, place was about 1/3 full, but getting drinks took 20 minutes, food took even longer. To their credit, all the food arrived at the same time and almost everyone was satisfied with their meal. Lone dissenter was unhappy with the amount of fat on the steak.
Nice view through the floor to ceiling windows, there's a large outdoor patio, and plenty of easy parking. Large, diverse menu, reasonable prices, good food (except for the one dish), and friendly staff. Be prepared for lots of noise and a wait for service, but it was worth it, and I'll go back the next time I'm in town.

If only the service at this restaurant matched the food. It started with chaos upon arrival with their “seat yourself” process, then the wait for a server to acknowledge us, then the wait for drinks, then the appetizer salads came out at the same time as the entrees and it goes on. Couldn’t even eat right away because we had to wait to flag down somebody just to get utensils.

And now we sit here and wait 15 mins+ for the check.

I’ve never seen a restaurant so disorganized.

Jason, we are so sorry to hear about your experience. This is certainly not the way we want our guests taken care of. Your feedback is much appreciated, we would love for you to email our GM Peter Goodwin at peter@bardenay.com so he can get a few more details and make this experience right with you.

We went here for dinner following a movie premiere. The place was busy but the atmosphere was so much fun. Wait staff did a great job on delivering super service. I eat vegetarian food and loved the Panzella Bruschetta. They served it with a side of quinoa salad that was out of this world. A great place to bring out-of-town guests.

Went here on the recommendation of the folks at the Hampton Inn and were not disappointed. It was a Saturday night and upon entering it appeared that half the population of Couer d' Alene had decided to join us. Yes it was full and noisy but in a fun, happy way. Josh, who was expediting the seating, told us of perhaps a 20 minute wait but we were seated in less time at a wonderful table off in a corner, overlooking the patio. Our waitress, Sierra, was prompt in taking our order, provided efficient service and was just a very pleasant person. In addition to the standard meat or fish and potatoes fare which we have been having while on our road trip this place offered a great selection of sandwiches and the ones we chose, tuna with cheese for my wife and turkey and swiss for myself were really darn good. I must mention that in spite of the place being so crowded the service, both for our drinks and food, was amazingly fast.
If we were locals we would be regular customers here.

Arrived at 6:00pm on Sunday evening, Memorial Day weekend. Seated ourselves inside and were served water by the bus boy almost immediately. The restaurant WAS NOT packed, probably about 2/3 to 3/4 full. 25 minutes later I got up and retrieved some menus from the wait station. After perusing the menu for another 10 minutes and still no server, we left. Walked next door to Anthony's and had a great meal. Should have gone there to begin with.

I have eaten at Bardenay a few times in the past, both family dinners and business lunches. Brief review based on those experiences:
Food: Average
Service: Good
Value/Price: Poor/Expensive

There are plenty of alternatives in the CdA/Post Falls/Hayden area that offer better food, service, and value than Bardenay. Will not be returning.
