“Interesting But Long Dirt Road”

Bayhorse Ghost Town and Trails System

Not a trip for vehicles without high clearance. Road rough, lots of fallen rock ready to slice open tires. Found the narrow twisting valley a bit claustrophobic. Road ascends rapidly. Few pullouts or turnarounds. Interesting site, state maintained collection of old buildings. On a good, dry day probably worth a visit. Bring a picnic, water.

We rode the trails up there and then ended up roaming around bayhorse for a few hours. There is soo much to see and learn there. Great experience we would go again

We decided on the spur of the moment to head to this ghost town. I'm glad we did. Such an interesting view of the history of mining in the area. Cost was $5 per car. We got a great history lesson and then wandered around for a couple of hours.

This attraction a rather short drive from town can really take you back to the gold rush days. You're surrounded by history. It's an amazing step back to what it was like in the late 1800's in a mining community. If visiting I would highly recommend it.
