We come to Jekyll Island due to the GSTC. Three years in a row now. Little kids will enjoy the hospital and the evening walk. Hardcore sea turtle lovers need to Ride with the Night Patrol - the most amazing experience ever is seeing a sea turtle nest !! Even if you don't get to see a turtle, the whole experience is awesome.

I have went to a couple of other turtle centers. This one is housed in a very nice facility but there is very limited space to actually view the turtles. Most tanks are covered or too far back to see the turtles. There is one tank that had a mirror over to help people see in and that was great. They need these at more tanks. Another negative is the staff was very unfriendly when we visited. They almost looked annoyed that we were there. The gift shop is very nice and has lots to choose from. The educational activities were fun and my ten year old really enjoyed them. We visited the week of the fourth, maybe going during a less busy time would be better.

My husband and I are seniors and we visited on July 4th because they were open. There are a lot of hands-on activities for kids and they had a lot of nice items in their gift shop. If you stay inside, it's air conditioned. If you go outside to the Turtle Rehabilitation Center, it's hot!

Very pricey for the experience, we were through in less than an hour which included time at the gift shop as well.
