My sister wanted to stop here for the kids because she had been here 30 years before with her kids. It was so much fun. Our 11 year old boy and 12 year old girl both got a small bucket and got to use a pan to sort through and look for gems. They both loved it and ended up with quite a few. They also broke open a geode each. The owner is a third generation miner that closes for the winter to mine for more gems. He was very interesting and knowledgeable. They have lots of neat things to buy as well. It was a fun stop for all of us.

We decided to try Dukes out for mining after having subpar experiences in town. I'm glad we did! Not only were the prices good, the gentleman working there was fantastic - he took the time to talk to everyone there, particularly the kids mining. He helped them understand when they were looking for and also answered their questions in an interesting manner (instead of just a plain answer, he made it fun). Very pleased with our visit!

Our kids loved it! Simple and a TON of treasures! They were so nice and no wait at all. Already planning to take our friends there too!

Such a fun place to take the kiddos to pan for gold and gyms. I found some really pretty quartz crystal and some genuine gold flakes. They gave me a cute tiny glass bottle for my gold.

We have a 3, 6, and and 9year old And this activity was perfect. It was 15° weather and we visited the location in town. We splurged on the $60 Gem bucket Which I recommend if you have two or three kids gemming. It goes fast and I’m glad we didn’t get the smaller bucket. The jeweler was super nice and took the time to go through each rock the kids found. He gave them the scientific name and interesting facts. They even make sure the kids get a magic volcano rock which is cool. They can also mount your gems for reasonable prices if you want them to. Nice people.
