I was in town for some appointments at the Mayo clinic, but wanted a restful location away from there. This was just what the doctor ordered! The hotel was just steps from the beach, perfect for long walks and wading in the water. There were also tons of great restaurants within a 2 to 3 block radius. We enjoyed Southern Grounds for coffee and scones, Fish Camp for drinks and seafood, and Mezza for everything else!

This is definitely NOT a chain hotel, but beds were comfortable and the room was clean and nice. We used the pool too, cool but comfortable for after the beach.

Would stay there again if I come back to Jax!

The location is everything. Located by a small town center of shops and restaurants, you can walk to dinner or coffee or a wine bar and stroll back, with the room at entirely reasonable prices. I love old Florida establishments and was excited to stay here. The classic kitsch does not carry to the inside though, which I had hoped/ anticipated it would. The inside has been updated but lacks character, with the furniture being similar to any best western--which might be a plus for some people. Went to the Lemon Bar for the opening night of season. The drink was really tasty. I did not use the pool since the weather was windy and cold that evening/ the following morning. The balcony was narrow for my room, possibly wider on other rooms. My only complaint is the heat in the shower appeared to have been turned down/limited. I had the shower as far over as it could go and it was warm but not hot at all. Maybe this is done for children's safety, but it was too low. There also was no extra blanket in the room. This wouldn't be an issue most evenings, but I was there on a colder evening and got up in the night looking for a blanket. I turned on the heat on the unit after. The breakfast basket they offer is a nice touch. They do put a $100 hold on your card for incidentals/ charging at lemon bar etc. Parking is free, at least for the first car. I like the makeup wipe and shower cap provided. Very clean! The room fridge is always a nice addition. I had a nice stay and it is quite affordable for the area.

It is a "Historic" hotel. It was very clean & good beds. They offer a basket of food for breakfast(yogurt, muffin, oj). It is a great locations to every restaurant. The beach is beautiful. The staff is all very friendly.

Room tip: Get a second floor room if your ok with the stairs, so you can have a view of the Ocean

From the outside it looks like typical sixties Florida Motel but the rooms have been redone and were very nice. Great balcony with lovely ocean views, free wifi and parking. Many great restaurants and bars across the street on the backside of the hotel. A perfect location I would stay at again.

Room tip: Room 227 was great!
