I traveled to Miami and arrived at Lord Balfour Hotel Wednesday (7/8/15) evening. First impression, "Wow! This is cute and it smells great in here." The environment was clean, fresh, and nicely decorated. The hotel staff were very friendly. One of the front desk clerks (Gabriel) helped check myself and my mother into our room and then proceeded to grab our bags and show us to our room. The room was very nice. Small, but our room was a good size with 2 queen beds so it was enough space for the 2 nights we were staying. The bathroom is small. Very tight but it had everything that was needed to get the job done. For someone on the heavier side this hotel might not work out due to how extremely tight the bathroom is. The beds were comfortable and a plus was the floors were hard wood opposed to the nasty/scary carpet most hotels offer. The hotel offered a buffet breakfast with eggs, bacon, muffins, fruit, etc for $11. Not bad considering you have "real food". I believe breakfast was from 8am-noon. Although I never made it down in enough time for breakfast I liked the extended hour to noon. Most hotels have a 10am cut off.

Best thing about this hotel was the location! It's right on the beach and in walking distance to everything. I loved the hotel was 2 blocks away from where all the busy action started but still close. I took advantage of the beach on this trip so of course a major bonus was the hotel offered beach chairs, towels, and an umbrella.

All in all, this is a great hotel to spend a couple of nights in. Very clean, quiet, friendly staff, great location, affordable price and cozy! I would/will be coming back on my next visit.

This is a revisit. First went to Lord Balfour in 2013 right after their reopening and it was little rough but had potential. Went back this week and happy to say they've ironed out all the wrinkles. Great boutique hotel in SoBe. Super friendly and helpful staff, clean hotel, eclectic vibe, near the action but quiet for sleeping - hard to beat.

We loved the location - across the street from the beach, and just down the street from all the action of South Beach. It was a 5 minute walk to all the clubs and restaurants but when we were done with the "partying" the hotel was just far enough away to let us relax.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was nicely updated, clean and fresh. We enjoyed the décor - a little European inspiration goes a long way! We were a bit surprised there was no pool, considering the "resort fee" charged, but as the desk attendant said - "there's a BIG pool across the street!"

Thank you for your recent stay at the Lord Balfour and for your kind review.
We are pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are in the process of building an addition adjacent to our property that will include an infinity pool and a root top bar and garden for our guests to enjoy. For the time being, we do offer the biggest pool in the world across the street, it's just naturally salted and organic! LOL We do hope that you enjoyed our hospitality and we sincerely hope to have you back at the Lord Balfour or any other Room Mate hotels around the world.

Kind regards.

For our anniversary we stayed at this hotel and it was a good decision to stay there. They charge a resort fee for $9.99/day and you get an umbrella, 2 chairs and towels for the beach. Easy access to beach, great location- not too near the craziness of ocean drive but its within walking distance. Great bar, beautiful yard, colorful room. Very Very Very satisfied.

Our last-minute girls trip was fantastic, owed mainly to our hotel! The hotel staff is personable, helpful, and just all-around fun people. There was some mix-up with our reservation, and while one staff member was looking up the details, the staff kept me engaged and laughing until it was resolved.

My favorite part? The breakfast! It's a full breakfast, not the cheap sort you get from a mainstream hotel. The sausages were very good, we fought over them every morning (please put out more sausages)! Also we got complimentary waters to take with us on the beach. They're those small bottles though, would have preferred large ones to keep us hydrated.

The location is pretty good - a quieter area of south beach but so easy to get to anywhere we wanted on foot when we were looking for more excitement. The beach is just a 3 minute walk away, and the hotel has reserved chairs, umbrellas, and even gives you towels.

Only complaint - noise. I know, it's South Beach, people are going to come in late, drunk, and loud. Unfortunately we were close by the stairs so we got an earful some nights.

Room Tip: Ask not to be close to the stairs - drunks are loud!

Thank you very much for staying at the Lord Balfour and for posting your review.
We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Our staff are always happy to ensure that our guests are taken care of throughout their stay. Our breakfast is indeed quite large in comparing to other hotels, and we extended the hours to noon to allow our guests to sleep a little longer should they chose to.
It will be a pleasure to have you back at the Lord Balfour in the future or any other Room Mate hotels worldwide.

Kind regards.
